I absolutely love my job, after I get unloaded here at Tractor Supply in South Haven, MI, I'm headed a little south to Four Winds casino in New Buffalo, MI to pick up 9 pallets of copper pots/pans that will be going to Commerce, CA.

My dispatcher said feel free to stay for an hour and gamble if I want, just don't drink any alcohol.

Life is pretty good

At the factory we have painted sections - black with yellow diagonals. One day I sat through a meeting where a picture was shown of a whole truckload of boxes unloaded directly in it. The plant manager was going off on how "whoever did this is going to get fired!". I knew who did it. I was walking by at the moment it happened and mentioned it to the forklift driver - a notorious suck up and brother of the maintenance manager. I told him that this was not a place where you could put anything as it represented a safety hazard. He said... "Eh."

Now business is down 35% from a year ago as the tariffs made our customers look for new suppliers since any high carbon steel we get was from Canadia. We tried several American producers and ended up having to eat all the work due to inclusions that made the parts crack after hardening. Sure, we got credit for the steel but not the work, wages and inestimable loss of goodwill from a dozen customers feeding the automotive industry as we send hundreds of tons of useless product. We had just finally gotten our shit together (after 18 months! using American suppliers that source Brazilian billets - therefore no tariff) and now it looks like the tariffs are going away. Lol. Our customers won't be so quick to come back. Once you go through the quality testing and authorization for a new supplier, why give up China and Korea's low, low prices?

But, my point was that we are cutting heads anywhere we can. Closing the plant for a week a month, firing people for the slightest infraction, etc.. So I decided to have some fun. I asked "wow, we would really fire somebody for that?" "Hell yes, it's a safety violation." Was the reply.

I knew that the minute the plant manager got out of the office he was going to sit down and run the video recordings of it happening and see who did it. He fucking loves the video feed - petty little prick that he is. He would also see me telling him not to do it. And he would realize that I was playing him. Oh well. Too bad.

Of course, we never heard about it again.

This is why the worker morale in our plant sucks. They all know that certain people can do whatever the fuck they want without ramifications. I feel bad for them. There is nothing anybody can do to change it.

I am looking for a new job.

A few years ago, I was driving past Firekeepers and the marquis said "Don Rickles".

I was like, no shit. Rickles? The guy must be 90. I was amused at the thought of going. It just seemed like one of those things that might be funny. SO I googled it. It turned out that Rickles was so old that he only does three shows a year. Why Firekeepers? Then I looked at the prices. A ticket in back cost $250! Front was over $500.

Even though there was no way I was going to pay that, it piqued my curiosity even more. Who the fuck pays that for 90 year old Rickles? Old mobsters? Young Rat Pack wannabes?

The show never happened due to Rickles' health. Then he died.

Here's to you Don. You didn't land at Normandy Beach, but you were part of a blockbuster ensemble cast in one of the stupidest WWII films ever.

As you can see, those cars are parked where they're not supposed to be in the yellow stripes. It's because that area is directly in front of the loading dock I was on. Trucks need that space to pull forward and straighten out to get in that dock, that's why that space is painted with yellow stripes. It's kind of a pain in the ass when cars do that, I managed to wiggle my trailer on the dock straight though.

It's Walmart and what can you really expect from fat lazy poor white people that want to park somewhere they're not supposed to just so they don't have to walk any extra to the entrance

I lost $30 at the casino yesterday, that place is really nice, it's also a resort and has a swanky hotel.

I didn't stay long because I had my dog waiting outside in my truck (they had a huge lot for semi and rv parking).

Here's a good example of how OTR truckers should be, as he says, all drivers have to take a 30 minute break sometime within our HOS (hours of service). They should be utilizing that time for something productive instead of sitting on their ass drinking mountain dew

I'm not an OTR driver, but I do have an extra pair of good walking shoes in my truck. I go for a fast paced walk with my dog on my 30 minute break. I don't eat garbage food all day either, well on Fridays we all go to the local truck stop and have breakfast, I'll usually get a Little Debbie snack, but that is only once a week.

I don't have any dumbbells in my truck (yet), because it's summer and I can get out and walk, but this winter I will get some in my truck so I can exercise.

I just ordered 6000K LED Cree headlights conversion kit for my Chevy pickup truck. I hope they absolutely blind oncoming traffic

So tired of these dickheads out here in my rural area driving around with their hi beams on

Looks like it might be a pain in the ass switching my old bulbs as I have to remove my grill and pull out the whole headlight assembly on my truck. I hope it's worth it

I have noticed that the etiquette of driving with hi-beams on has slipped a lot no matter where you go but is almost completely absent in rural areas. I drive to work before dawn most days and nearly every person I pass on those farm roads has their hi-beams on. Now you can see the glow of an oncoming car long before you actually have a direct shot at their ocular nerves but they don't ever turn them down. Nor do people on divided highways anymore. I have sort of come to the conclusion that the concept of turning them down for others' benefit has pretty much gone away entirely and the only thing that matters to people anymore is "can I see better with them on". Just another symptom of the decline of the art of driving - something like using the left lane for passing only.

It is terrible out on the roads, especially in rural areas people have become so aggressive and self important when they get behind the wheel of an automobile.

It's almost like society has devolved. These people out in my rural area drive like assholes, they speed, they tailgate. It's no wonder my truck insurance is through the roof. I asked my insurance lady why is it so damn expensive for insurance in my area and she told me that rural areas are high risk because accidents that happen out here are worse because people drive fast in the country.

I have to always drive on my best behavior because I have a CDL, if I get a ticket for anything in my personal truck that ticket and points go against my CDL and vice versa if I get a ticket in my work truck that violation and points count against my regular driver license.

It is so frustrating and stressful some days with the way folks drive. I had a lady the other day tailgating me in the way to work early in the morning, like I'm already doing 55 mph the speed limit on the road and she's on my ass so close that I can't even see her headlights behind me only the top of her car. If I had to slam on the brakes for deer crossing the road she would've totalled my truck. I'm about to buy a 1,00,000 candlelight power spotting light to put in my personal truck and shine it in people's eyes that tailgate me, maybe that will make them to back off a little

Maybe they are just driving in a way that they feel represents their best interests.
