damn, that's cheap. i think i know what to ask wifey for my b'day this year! the price of the volcano was holding me back, glad to see there is an alternative.
They are a great company, and their vaporizers are top quality. I've had mine for over ten years, and it still works perfect.

Thinking of purchasing parts for a DWC system.
i was hoping someone might chime in on best air pumps and chillers at reasonable prices.
I am thinking about using 4 totes similar to the one posted from home depot and have them each run on their own airstones.
I have heard linear air pumps are much more quiet and powerful.
Anyone have a setup they are willing to discuss?

I have 8 .25 hp active aqua chillers and all working perfectly.. if you buy from vm innovations directly and not from amazon they have a coupon code for like 25ish bucks off also right now. All have been working great chilling between ~50 and ~100 gallons each, keeping them at 66-67 degrees with no difficulties.

Even if you don't need a .25 I would just get that over a 1/10th, it will run less often and has 3x the btus, the 1/10 are ~1000 btus and the 1/4 are ~3000 btus for only 75 dollars more, how that relates to cooling not sure exactly but considering its not much more money for at least double the water volume it will cool efficiently its worth it imo.

That makes sense.
I always buy bigger than needed units be it fans, AC , lights etc as you can turn them down and peak eff for most products is not full putput output has been my experience not to mention it is good to have some room to adjust in extremely hot weather.
I am still in early stages and most likely wont begin to buy-assemble system till fall of this year as got my hands full with building proper illumination for grow area.
Thanks for your input

I agree except for ac, that should be sized accordingly, if you over size your ac you will run into high humidity issues, it will short cycle, not run long enough to remove moisture from the air. (obviously a dehumidifier will solve that but creating more heat in the meantime requiring ac to run more etc) Ask me how I know this. :)

I have both
AC is for room tent is in so plan is to cool room down therefor cool tent down same for dehumidifier except that will be in tent with warm exhaust to be vented in room not tent area.
Fresh air intake will be AC air cooled and low humidity as well.
Exhaust to go outside for main fan in tent via 8 inch ductwork.

What kind of air conditioner, central, or a window AC? A window AC will not exchange fresh air. Not sure if you were saying that that's what you were planning on doing. You need central air, or a mini-split for that. But, if your rooms not sealed air tight, there's plenty of fresh air around.

Think he means he will have the AC (assuming window or portable) in the room that the tent is situated cooling the air so that the air drawn into the tent will be cool

Even though tents used are well made I know
Vapour transmission is impossible to stop as such
without 100% sealed vapour barrier like the bubble boy lol
I keep it cool and low humidity year round in tent area so that will help me.
Have all the toys but still need to look into few things.

Anyone comment of best water pump, adjustable output, low noise, low heat transfer?
300GPH up to say 1000GPH but not set in stone.
Been looking at Danners mag drive ceramic impeller units.
I have a 4 port air pump of theirs.
For price it is great but I will need to upgrade now.

Anyone have a good quiet but powerful air pump that does not heat air up?
Gotta be able to aerate say one 5 gallon pail easily at low power but yet do 6 or more 5 gallons pails if needed in total water GPH.
Also methods others to use to cool water without big chillers(other than waterfall which I can't do here)
I know they are some other tech just can't remember name.

Likely linear pump is the best way to go I understand for air pump.
Adjustable output is a must for me.

I wouldn't use any restrictors on a pump. They'll put the pump under load and cause it to heat up, which will also warm up your water. Just get a 1000gph pump, if that's the size you ultimately want. I think you'd be just fine with a 400gph pump, since you're only going to use it to circulate the water, and not run an under current system. I use a cheap 400gph pump for my 60-gallon RDWC. Run the pump inline to help keep temps down. Danners are great, but expensive. I just get the cheap ones, and keep an extra on hand.
My pump

Instead of a single pump that may, or may not, power several sites, you'd be much better off getting small individual pumps. These are great...
Hydrofarm air pump

You're not going to be able to get away from noise. A better approach might be to soundproof the room. It's pretty easy. A few simple things make a huge impact. I have mine soundproofed because I mix and record at home, right across the hall. When I close the grow room door, it's virtually silent. And I use a commercial 70lpm water pump, three inline fans, and several other noisy components. I describe how to treat your room in my thread...
Soundproofing

I'm able to keep my water temps at 68, without a chiller, or any other cooler. Again, check out my thread to see how I simply use my house air to maintain water temps. Go half way down the page...

A quick word about picking a water pump. Don't get one much larger than what you need. Get one that allows for a little expansion, but don't run a huge pump if you don't need to. Big pumps produce big heat.

Also, I use my tent exhaust fan to keep my air pump cool. It'll greatly extend the life of the pump, and helps prevent heat buildup. It stays cool to the touch. I also have my pump hung with 550 cord, with prevents vibrations in the wall,. Scroll down just a bit...

I have a 9x9 room but am limited to 6 flowering plants at one time since i'm from Massachusetts.

I'm looking at a rdwc setup but was wondering whats the best gallon size to grow trees?
Would there any benefit in using six 27 gallon storage totes so the roots can grow huge vs 5 gallon buckets?
Working around these storage bins might a pain but if there increase yield substantially then it will be worth it.

Often threads go offside but also they contain a wealth of info for OP
Im just getting used to RIU and thread etiquette myself, tend to get side tracked often but love all the content. Im looking into diff btwn 27gal , 50 gal, or 70 gal hdx tote diy rdwc setup too. Anyone know if better to ave mult 32 gal or couple larger.? I was thinking if root issue multiple smaller better but more pricey bc more parts...
