High deductible health insurance was affordable. Combined with a health savings account it's a very good option in as much as what health insurance should be (covering the costs of unexpected health related expenses). The ACA got rid of those plans. If the gov can stop the rape of Americans by the Health Insurance Industry, I'm all for them stepping in.
But the Pub's will never let that happen, so what to do?
Vote those cocksuckers out, and establish a humane system for healthcare in the US, where even if you aren't wealthy, you don't have to needlessly die as a result.
Everyone does.You need it bad.
You're late for Jeebus.Everyone does.
Ok, you have to be joking. First off, they did not cover pre-existing conditions which the insurance companies defined to their advantage. Second off, the ACA did not get rid of HSAs or high deductible policies, which suck by the way, and cause people to defer treatment until a problem gets very bad. In addition, by requiring health insurance, hospitals rarely got stuck holding the bag allowing the savings to apply to all.High deductible health insurance was affordable. Hospital fees are outrageously priced. Go to the ER because you have horrible stomach pain, thinking your appendix ruptured and get an MRI, only to find out it's you first kidney stone and you'll end up paying 2,500-3,500 for the MRI. Had you not gone to the hospital for an MRI, but had seen a specialist that only does MRIs and CAT Scans, you only have to fork out around $500. I don't know what the break even price would be for a hospital, but hospitals have to charge more because ER bills often go uncollected. Part of the reason insurance companies get price breaks at hospitals is because hospitals know the vast majority of the bill will get paid by the insurance company and they won't have to sell the bill to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar. The higher the hospital prices go, the more that will default, requiring prices to be higher. There needs to be a reset, with a temporary price control and a law that doesn't allow filing bankruptcy on healthcare so prices can be low. Hospitals should also be required to contact ICE for anyone refusing to identify or has identified as not here legally, as this group is a high risk of non-payment and non-payment increases prices for everyone else.
Covering pre-existing conditions without charging more for that condition is not "insurance". Insurance is for unexpected events. If you have health conditions that require you to seek a healthcare provider more than most people, you should expect to pay more than most people, whether that is to an insurance provider or healthcare provider. If you're a shitty driver and get in more accidents, you should expect to pay more than most people. If you have shitty health, you should expect to pay more.Ok, you have to be joking. Um, nope. Sorry. Logic fail. Many people have no control over the pre-existing conditions and insurance companies could and did bail on these people all the time.Covering pre-existing conditions without charging more for that condition is not "insurance". Great info, then that last bit snuck right in there. What would we benefit from people not going to the hospital if they are in serious need of a emergency room because they are afraid they will get dumped in a broken country sick/hurt, and we still have to foot the hospital bill. People from other countries are not the problem with our billing/bankruptcy laws with our medical system. Don't turn doctors into the enemy of these people, doctors are busy enough to not have to play cop with the communities they work in.High deductible health insurance was affordable. A parent is to provide for their child, not society. Although there are ways for society to help that child without the government mandating anything as has always been the case.Um, nope. Sorry. In your world, a child with pediatric cancer would be expected to just go die. Fuck you and your idea of a society.

Because their medical condition gets worse and what could once be cured by a prescription now takes a lengthy hospital stay. How does the hospital get stuck with the bill if the people don't go because they're afraid?
