Reserva Privada: OG18

Two things:

1. Any strains from reputable seed banks with the piney, fuely, minty, classic OG smell and taste?

2. I recently picked up 12 OG18 seeds from Reserva Privada and I am greatly disappointed. I grew this strain out when it was first introduced almost 10 years ago. It was the best OG I ever came across. Every pheno was amazing. Unfortunately, I lost that strain.

Several years go by and I picked up OG18 many more times hoping to find the OG18 pheno again. Every single time, they were nothing like the first batch.

I finally gave up. So last year I picked up some seeds from Attitude and low and behold, there was an OG18 freebie. I gave it a go and WOW! It turned out AMAZING. It had that piney taste. Not quite like the first time. But stellar results nonetheless. I even had it lab tested and it hit 30% total THC.

So I bought 12 more seeds... I grew them out. NOTHING like the past few. They smell more like something sweet and fruity. I’ve grown to despise Reserva Privada now. Terrible quality.

Soooo... any recommendations for that minty, piney, fuely, classic OG taste?

You need some Triangle Kush s1's or bust. Everyone else is just using a chemdog male or lemon skunk, and crossing it to ogk and calling it OGK. Karma has the best ogk crosses currently if you want pure pine lemon and fuel. You will get phenos that are pure ogk in look smell and taste. CSI has the best crosses hands down but not at all if you want purity. Archives are completely watered down chemdog leaning buds, but he has legit cuts at least, and the dosi lines are top shelf generally.

I do not like OG 18 at all. When they first introduced the strain they were giving freebies out often. I grew out around 10 and out of those 10, there was 1 pheno that was what I would consider OG. The other 9 were a mix of fluffy, hairy, dirty sock smelling, bullshit. For some reason I keep seeing this OG18 in crosses and cant figure out why in the hell anyone would want to use something that is clearly so unstable in breeding projects.

Yeah they could not reverse OGK reliably so they reversed a skunk or afghan into it imo for mass production. A shame people go around thinking this stuff is og.

As someone said not at all. OGKB is newer. Great pot worth growing, but not OGK status. Just a nice cross of it. I have a fantastic grape fuel cookie smelling and tasting ogkb pheno I wish I did not let go last run. One bud of it left =( I would have kept it around for a few runs, but not legendary enough to be permanent with limited room.

When I say in my 'reviews' something is ogk I mean it is SFV, Tahoe, Legend/Triangle OGK level stuff. That is the indisputable real deal. Karma definitely has that level of quality in some of his ogk work even though he was using 'off the beaten path' og's. I have not gotten it from anyone else. I had keeper ogk plants in his lines I kept next to my clone only og's.

RP fell to shit the last handful of years. Whatever they had at one time, they no longer possess. Basically the same as you, I had a Jews Gold cut aka Kosher Kush back in like 2012 / 2013 and it was amazing. Long story short, I lost it and got some seeds from RP to hunt for a nice cut again. The plants all threw bananas like clock work and it wouldnt clone out. Huge harvest of sub mediocre buds.
The hunt for the old school "piney" was brought up in another thread and I tossed out a recommendation of
NDNGUY'S 1979 Christmas Bud
Preservation project. They were freebies from Useful Seeds and lots of folks seem to be finding exactly that in them. Best of luck on your hunt.

Popped 3 of the Christmas bud, 2 males 1 female. Seems I got the wrong pheno. Mine was menthol and while the buzz was good, that is about all I can say about it.

I got a few cuts of OG#18 off a buddy a couple years back and really liked it. Still smoking on the half oz I have left.

Had to be the prettiest plant I ever grew. Just have seeds of it crossed with Crap King Blueberry tho the BB wasn't bad and grew buds similar to the OG. Big golf ball sized buds everywhere without making colas.

To go into more detail... the female was very compact, very leafy and the leaves were all very small and really sharp.
One male was identical, and one male was lankier, with bigger but still sharp leaves. I asked about which male I should use in the Useful thread and Useful said definitely the taller lankier. So I knew right away the female was not what I was looking for. At some point I will pop a few more and hope I get the right female. I kept pollen from the tall male so hopefully I can isolate what I am looking for.

I have grown bubblegummer several times and fortunately for me the phenos I got were all the pink stick bubblegum smell and taste. Just too much all around better strains out there now.

Ditto here on their Kandy kush, how this breeder is still in business remains a mystery.
I think they put 1 winner in every 50 seeds sold, pathetic.
Pine, fuel, road kill skunk were bred out of most strains years ago, hard to find those pheno expressions these days.
Have had much better results from Bodhi, and I hear Coastal seeds is working on the fuel, skunk, pine terpines; but they are pricey.

Dude I buy vape carts for the drive home from work and like 3-4 have had strong vicks vaporub taste. Fucking $32 for a gram cart of cough medicine. Who the fuck likes this flavor? The worst ones have been jack herer and yeti og and none of the herer I've grown have had menthol flavor. Spicy sure but not vaporub lol

I grew OG#18 out around 2012/2013 as well and was really happy with it. Amazing piney skunky smell and very potent! Also liked that it stretched a lot in flower, eliminating long veg time. Unfortunately got rid of the mom and so decided to buy some seeds a few years ago. Decided to grow them out a few months back and all of them popped and currently sexing them. Will keep you all updated as they progress. But yeah, I'd be totally stoked to find some similar phenos like the ones I grew in 2012.
