Illinois prep work advice please and thank you

You can grow any strain you want during an IL summer. Try some different strains out and find out what works best for you. If your growing outdoors for the first time I would check out the thread in the "outdoor" section "yeah it's bud worm season".

Get familiar with a product called Monterey BT which you'll need to spray your plants with if don't want to lose those outdoor crops. Just a heads up, as it's one of the issues you'll want to be ready for.
I'm starting to wonder if it was not mold on my crop I grew in the woods but it was budworm?

Or I should say the budworm caused the rot.

I had 3 plants and it started on the eastern most plant and then spread to the center plant and then the west plant. I was wondering why the mold was traveling from plant to plant and not hitting them all at once.

Yeah it's the worms. Their pop is a favorite food for grey mold... BT!

In Illinois the fall does suck. So don't forget to shake your plants every morning to get the dew off of them. Use bt and potassium bicarbonate with milk to help keep worms and mold at bay.
