The Politics of Truck Drivers Urinating in Public..

I'm thinking about becoming an owner/operator. My boss said he'd help me and I could contract through his company and run under his authority until I can get my own.

I can use his trailers and he'll help me with truck maintenance. His buddy is a salesman at a Five Star truck sales. This is the truck I'm looking at, it's pretty sweet and was very well maintained.

Sorry not the best pictures, but here's more info

The price is $26,900, I can get it for $22,500 if I put half down (I can). I'll still have enough money to apply for DOT and MC numbers and pay for insurance through my boss. I'll have enough cash left to pay for any unexpected truck maintenance issues and fuel for a while, I'll really be stretching my savings pretty thin, but I could do it.

I don't know, I have a lot of things to think about. This seems like a nice opportunity for me, not everyone getting started in this business has someone to help them out and make sure they have plenty of miles to run to be successful and make it

What do you guys here think about it, should I do it?
I applaud anyone wanting to go into business for themselves! That is a very low price for a tractor, shouldn't be too hard to get that paid off in a year or two.

My concern isn't about your abilities or even the truck you're looking at, but the direction of the industry as a whole for the next few years;

Several aspects of the future of the trucking business are discussed in the article. A transportation recession is already underway, brought on by the trade policies of the current administration. If America enters recession as a result, trucking volumes will drop precipitously and that would make it tough to make truck payments.

If he drove a truck like you grow weed, he would crash it on day 3. There would be fatalities.

Not sure about South of the border but here there is a huge shortage of drivers and owners. I have buddies that operate a brokerage and they are as busy or busier than ever trying to keep up. Sorry what do you do again?

I'm nobody to ask about your industry. So, just some ideas:

Why not map a path toward buying your own truck and business without taking a loan? I'm not talking about putting this deal off for decades, I mean, if you have half now, maybe you could figure out how to increase you saving rate to put away that last $11,000 or sell something so that you could avoid taking out a loan. Is there a reason for making the move now?

You probably already know this site:

https://www.ooida.com/

They have a class on purchasing new vs used:
https://www.ooidaonlineeducation.com/classes.aspx

The more you know the better decisions you'll make.

If you explain to you boss that you aren't ready but will be glad for his help later, that asset won't go away just because you decide to wait a little longer. If he pressures you then maybe it's not such a good deal after all.

There are good tax reasons (sometimes and here anyways) to actually borrow the money for an asset for a business. The business pays the loan not you personally. The tax right offs for the interest of the loan keep profits in your hands and not the tax man is one. I’m no expert either though. Best to talk to an accountant and a business consultant, we have a few programs here where you can access a professional for free consultations.

Especially if the "bonehead" Fed chief gives Trimp a negative interest rate.

Yes, wealthy white families like yours and Bernie’s can buy their way into anything
Wrong again! At least you're consistent about that...

No, she's getting into Oxford based on merit and scholarship.

I fully understand such an idea would be completely beyond your meagre comprehension.

So let's talk about Joe Biden's wealth? Turns out he's got a lot more under the mattress than Bernie.

You're a pathetic clown. Worse, you've got nothing left but this site. It's the only one you haven't been kicked off of yet.

"Dear admissions counselor,

...

"I suppose my tale of hardship and abuse finally came to a head when my corpulent, abusive father was arrested, again, jacking it in his car in the parking lot of a Wyoming hotel while his "girlfriend" was forced to perform hazardous and unpleasant sex work for him to support his crack habit. The next day, a nice pair or DCFS workers rescued me from my squalor filled home and contacted my uncle. Only then did I begin to have hope".
