honestly some folk get too carried away with cloning, im a shit grower but a monster cloner.
Ive had 100% success rates for years and at times cutting 2-300 at a time and every last one roots within 4-7 days.
I dont sterilize etc and same blade gets used for months without changing or cleaning. CLEANLINESS MAKES NO DIFFERENCE.
cut your clones at desired hieght, trim the leaf ends down so they fit in clonebox if youre only taking a few then skip this step.
cut on a bit of angle at the bottom of the node, dont get hung up on 45° its a myth and makes no difference just a bit of a slant is fine and a fresh flat cut will still root it just takes a couple days more
jam 5 or 6 at a time straight in the clonex pottle, itll go runny and black after a time but it still works fine.
stick your clone stem into a pre soaked/Gently squeezed Peat jiffy pellet and pinch the base to get good contact of jiffy/stem.
NOW HERES THE SECRET FAILSAFE METHOD.
Youll need
2 roller organisers(clear or opaque) 1 small enough to fit in the other.
temp adjustable aquarium heater
lil bit of perlite.
get 2 of those clear or opaque roller organisers with 1 smaller then the other (Just 1 with a couple small containers will suffice for smaller numbers) and place heater and luke warm water to cover the heater an inch or so. Set to 28°C
in the smaller 1 put about an inch layer of perlite, this is a temp buffer and also prevents soaking of low spots as the tubs flex and jiffys seep.
evenly space clones on the perlite then place the smaller container in the larger and float the smaller container in the heated water, leave the lid off the smaller clone container but lid the larger one, leave the lid with a 1/2 inch gap at 1 end to regulate the humidity and place under propagation lights.
In 6years ive never sprayed or rewatered a clone in this system. only thing I do is remove the lid once a day and shake the condensation off the lid thats it!!! 4-7days and Viola we have 100% rooted.
you may have to adjust temp to suit your setup but mine at 28°C makes the inside of clone bin 24°C.
can also skip the perlite but the jiffys dry unevenly and the wettest ones take a few days longer.
hope this helps someone
