huge factor when considering all the veg wattage put in over longer days

Yes, it is absolutely true. Except it depends on you as a grower & dialing in your leds. Also, good leds.
My Hps averaged .75gpw.
My leds are now averaging 1.5-2 gpw w/o sacrificing any yeilds. Just the opposite. Yeilds went up from the even spread of light, high efficiency (x2 amount of light per watt used as SE-HPS), & better spectrums.
The Amare Canna-Spec being my favorite thus far.
There is a learning curve though.
For the purchasing & the usage aspects.
 
Grams per watt is one of those useless statistics because it gives you the answer to an incomplete equation. Why is it incomplete... because the total light hours used to achieve the result is never included in the equation. And that's just one of the variables missing from that equation, cause things like the "total plant count" also need to be included in the equation. But even if you included all those variables in the equation you couldn't logically compare (2) sets of results unless both those results were compared using the same variable values.

Me too. Before that was 1.5 gpw 2 yrs ago in a special lighting system called the SunCloak. Then a 2 yr learning curve almost :roll::???:, that took so long due to my personal life id imagine. Had me stuck around 1.25 gpw. Either way, 600g plants under 300-400w left n right now.
Still not 100% either which i thought I'd have to be to get the 2 gpw.
Still very jelly of those making through a whole grow w/o defficencies showing around where the majority of the light hits on some plants. All get same feed yet some strains look pale n others look great. Strain dependent success for me when multi-straining on the same rez under different led spectrums. So, one strain may do well under one led but require a different feed schedule under another spectrum led. Its weird.
Vdp, magnesium, Cal-Mag, PH, light distance, leaf temp, not to little n not to much all come into play more so under led then HPS. Media as well.
But once you nail it, youll get the results you read about.

There used to a be a formula kicking around back in the OG days which took time and space into considering as well. But that was really about comparing different gardens and everybody is concerned about their own garden so it went the away from memories it seems.

I completely agree. GPW is a useless metric without time or energy (kwh) factored in. Someone hitting 1gpw with 2 weeks veg is doing much better than someone hitting 2 gpw with 8 weeks veg.

Another note : my plants can be maxed light at 300w of this HE & spit 600g's. 2.5'x4'. Only 220w of that was directly above that particular plant.
So, iys not like you need whimpy light to do it anymore.

Not true. The new leds running at 2.5 umol are superior, because of the improved spectrum. Hps spectrum is a waste.
 
I got 1.5gpw on my first run with my QB288V2's dimmed all the way down. I'm sure 2.0 would be a cake-walk considering I had a pretty nasty mite infestation.

You didnt answer the question.
1000w HPS x 3 grams per watt = 3000 grams, which = 6 pounds+.

So... youre saying that 6 pounds on one 1000w HPS is doable.

Ive grown for 10 years with HPS and LED and i have never even heard anyone say something like that, never mind say it isnt hard.

Yes. Im not sure how this is confusing.10 years expierence should have given you enough knowledge to find high yield strians

Exactly. Which is exactly why i know youre full of it.
There is no strain that yields like that because if there was i would be growing it, as would everybody else.
So not confused. Just making sure your talk was complete shit.
