That a bubble cloner? Do the stems stay submerged under water or are they right above it being splashed by popping bubbles?Walmart special. 1 week roots with warmer water.
Jesus.. i have a plant in dwc right now that's a month old and has maybe 1/3 that much root.. that's awesome.Walmart special. 1 week roots with warmer water.
Submerged. I think people have been using the same style of cloning forever. Mum use to take cuttings in a glass of water, this is the same principle. When I was young and broke I cloned MJ in a glass of water with daily fresh water change. That a bubble cloner? Do you use any root inoculants in DWC? If you do I suggest you stop adding any living cultures to the reservoir. It will hinder the plant to keep on developing new roots because it think it's already being feed by the fungal/bacterial cultures instead of directly uptake nutrients through the root membrane.Jesus.. i have a plant in dwc right now that's a month old and has maybe 1/3 that much root.. that's awesome.
Great thread. I love root porn!View attachment 4449532
After a bunch of DIY cloners, I bought a Clone King, been using the same unit for about 7-8yrs now, I get almost 100% success.
I use ...
non PH'd tap water ( no roots-not feeding)
pump 24/7
T5's @ 16"above
I've used hormones in the past, but I find "for me" they are not necessary
If you need to add "things" I find Dyna-gro's KLN & Pro tek are the best. ( 5ml each per 3gal rez )
I don't regulate my temps, but I have found close to 76* water is the sweet spot
Right now i'm using tribus which i had never tried before and i do seem to have better root growth.. but you may be on to somethign as all the plants energy seems to be going into roots and above the pot is kinda meh for the stage it's in.Do you use any root inoculants in DWC? From my experience it's much more important to have a clean rootzone for optimal root development than adding any myco or living products. They work against each other and go against basic principles in hydro IMO. I know people will disagree on this but it's my observations and personal opinion.
Do you use the recommended rate of kln?View attachment 4449900
TurboKloner, DynaGro KLN and tap water (contains chlorine)
Great thread idea @BobBitchen
I used to use 5ml per 3gal rez with successDo you use the recommended rate of kln?
Thinking too much kln was my issue with the last round being that i added the soaking and not the misting rate. They were about to pop with bumps everywhere and just went into limbo, again, it seems.
Low light intensity. Decent water temps. Regular resi maintenance. Argh
Shit I'm at 2.5ml a gallon( recommended). From reading a bit into it some saying too much hormone causing callous formation and inhibiting roots.I used to use 5ml per 3gal rez with success
I also added 5ml Pro tekT along with the KLN when I used to add.Shit I'm at 2.5ml a gallon( recommended). From reading a bit into it some saying too much hormone causing callous formation and inhibiting roots.
Just dipping in clonex gel was enough to get roots in a week in a bubbler.
I usually read up as much a possible before starting a new endeavor. Here i am. Smh.
Adding fresh h20 nothing mixed, now.
I've used anywhere from 6 - 9 ml/2.5 gallon res. The only thing that stopped my clones from rooting was temperature.Do you use the recommended rate of kln?

The last pic, roots only in center of net pot.Much different then top feed.2 pics from transplant time 3 weeks ago and then 1 from last night.
I had a ballast burn out so they had to stay in the cloner a week longer than I had planned.

its because of how/when I transplant. I leave them in the cloner much longer than most ppl. When they have decent roots I put some nutes in there and wait until the roots will stick 3-4" out of the bottom of the net pot. When I transplant, the roots get fed through a hole in the bottom of the net pot. They tend to form a neat ball like this early on, these plants are less than 6 weeks from when they got cut off their mothers and 3 weeks in this system, but theyll start growing other large roots out of the sides of the pots soon. The last pic, roots only in center of net pot.Much different then top feed.
