Spider sp4000 test.

I have learned my first bit of information about this light. I transplanted my beautiful plants and within a cpl day they started looking stressed. I first questioned the soil I used. It is new to me and had a lot of debris in the soil. Then a very kind user pmed me about the height I was running my light and suggested I raise it. I did and the plants are looking better the next day. I set the light up the same as I would have my 1000 hps. It was 3 ft above the tops. I have never had light stress be for. This light is damn powerful. It is now 5ft above the tops and all are happy. Thanks to rocket soul for his suggestion. I appreciate all the help I can find. We never stop learning.

If only those SF fixtures used drivers with accessible dimmers... I believe they're considering addressing that fault in future designs though, as they commented something to that effect on Migro's test of one of their fixtures.

Damn I keep my sf1000 about 10-12 inches away. I know it's much less powerful but isn't it all relative? Like par and dli or am I way off? I'm gonna do a little research now before I embarrass myself lol

12 inches times 4 is 4 ft. I am at 5. Maybe I am staying cautious at this point. Not sure. I like all perspectives on this.

I totally agree. I am lucky enough to have ten foot ceilings , but I have grown in places that were less. Like seven foot. That’s just not enough room with that light full blast.

I agree with questioning longevity. I am using a BML SPYDR 600 which is now 5 years old, but probably only has 5 full grows under it. I had to send one bar back for repair about a year ago, and was told parts were not going to be available any longer.

I also have several Amare Technology panels 230, 260 < these having the most on time, and a Pro 3 , which has 3 cobs surrounded by key spectrum monos (MSRP $695, but discounted 25% = $525 + shipping). now on its 3rd grow in a 2 x 4 tent, which seems perfect for it. My preference is bars, like my SPYDR 600. A style that AT is currently embracing, but a Bar 8 MSRP is $1700 (~ $1300 with discount), no price available for the Bar 6, but likely ~ 3/4 of the Bar 8 or ~ $995 with discount.

With most 3+ yo lights, their leds are virtually obsolescent as diode advancement moves along at seemingly warp speed. Unlike other products, which by law have to keep parts inventory a minimum of X years, led mfgs are not held accountable

A SF 4000 MSRP is $529, dimensions provided state 25 x 21; seems like it would be much bigger. Anybody? not that the 2 are apples to apples in coverage or wattage, AND, although I much prefer bars, even if the SFs only last 3 years, the amount of finished meds you should get, IMHO, makes replacing them then a no brainer, and they are probably going to be considerably improved by then, not that I see anything wrong with them now; maybe some 450 blue and doubling the IRs.

Should I ramp up again to multiple tents I will likely get one

Damn I never thought about that, they say it has an x amount of years warranty, but in 3 years technology could be so advanced that it wouldn't make sense using the warranty. Slick.
