Throwing all the cards in the air at once - what could go wrong???

Ok, so I've found myself involuntarily between jobs and a bit bored, so I decided to change things up in the tent.

Unfortunately, I changed quite a bit so I'm not sure what disaster to expect first or how I will figure it out, but what the hey.....

So I grow in a basement 3x3 tent with two v1 HLG QB's (about 300w), plus some cooler white leds from rapid (~60w, mix of 5k and 6.5k). Normally, I just run the vent fan on a low setting continuously. Containers are SIPs (two), and soil is a super-soil like mix from build-a-soil. I do have a tent heater to keep temps up in off hours. I usually grow up to 6 plants, or however many females I find after veg in a different tent.

I've gotten surprisingly good results, so I really shouldn't mess with it. But I'm an idiot, so why not?

So here's what I changed to:
  • Added a Co2 controller and set it to ~800 ppm to start
  • Added a humidity sensor and connected it to the vent fan - it only comes on when I need to bring down the humidty (currently set to 55-60%). I have another fan that will come on if the tent gets too hot; I haven't seen it come on yet, but the lights collectively are only at about 250 watts.
  • Added both 650 and 730 nm deep and far red LED's on separate channels. The deeps come on 30 minutes before lights on and go off 30 minutes before lights out. The 730's come on 5 minutes before lights out and go off 15 minutes after. Only about 15 watts of each, so more mood lighting than anything photoactive. I was originally thinking that I'd wait for flower, but saw a lot of panels have these on all the time so that's that.
  • Instead of vegging until sex is evident, I used a testing service to find what I had, which turned out to be 4 females and one male. I put the girls in the sip containers and will keep the guy around until he shows his sex (just to confirm the test was correct), then I may keep it and make some f1's or just dust myself up and go on a greenhouse tour. ;) j/k. This means I have very small plants in a very large pot from the gitgo. Luckily sips never get super wet, and I can let them dry out between waterings.
My controller board looks like an airplane cockpit now. ;)

So far the plants (Bhodi Elfenstone - sativa dominant so I need to force them low and wide)) are doing well. I'll up the co2 and light intensity as veg progresses. Normal ipm.

I forgot to take pics before I closed up the tent, but I'll add some as it goes.

Now the slow motion train wreck can start. Bets on what happens first?

Make sure your room is sealed and get them temps around 85 if you want to see the results of the co2, also don't bother with 800ppm to straight to 1500.
Other then that looks like you have it under control. Best part is, if anything goes wrong you don't have a job to get in the way of fixing it :blsmoke:

Post some pics.

I'm going with:
1 vote for negligible gain from the C02 enrichment.

I hope I'm wrong, and you get a bumper crop.
Because of temps? Or the ppm level? Or both?

Just curious. Never heard the 85 degree number before, but I can ramp it up. I'm at ~78 now.

I've always heard plants view co2 like crack. Never used it before so just experimentin. Trying to ramp changes in rather than bitch slapping the plants.

Thanks!

Cannabis intakes the co2 better at higher temps, 85f is just what seemed to work best for me from past experience. But still, it wasn't enough increase in yield to make the extra money spent on co2 worth it.
But you may find you prefer to add the co2, if that's the case all the power to you :P

I have no experience with CO2 enrichment.
From my understanding, it's one of those things that won't really provide a worthwhile return, unless it's a completely sealed environment, with flawless conditions, running in perfect harmony.

I'd run 800 ppm myself. That's plenty enough to give the plants a good boost without going full bore with high temps etc and pushing them hard. Maybe crank it up to 1500 when you flip to flower and they put on a big growth spurt. From my screwing around the last few years it seems to get the best benefits then.

I'm not seeing a train wreck here unless you go right off the rails yourself first. :D

Good luck!

:peace:

I'm voting for stretch (far reds) and not enough light (LED smh  ) for CO2 assist

Just fucking with you, btw good for you for changing it up.

what do u mean because the only time i see co2 used if the room is running hotter like 85F-95F and i dont run this hot because its cold as hell and its winter
I live in the Mojave Desert and I don't use A/C. It is not uncommon for months out of the year for my canopy to be at 105. My rh is 10ish.

ahhhhh makes more sense yea co2 is very helpful for u that's for sure I just live where its kinda shitty to grow in the summer that's about it im just at the point I don't grow in the summer just makes me worry about life

Yea you know it really would make sense for me to use it. Which makes no sense why I don't LOL I'm a bit of a lazy, yet fightey, stoner LOL
