Please help me get started

I just set up a second tent similar to what your assembling here. I went with the same tent but a SpiderFarmer SF2000 for a light. I'm in a basement (also in MA guy! Wicked sweet right?) where the ambient temps are in the 50s. With the light running full blast the tent has stayed between 67 and 78.

For the fan, personally, I'd worry more about CFMs then the size. I run both my 32"x32" tent and my 2'x4' tent through one 220 CFM 4" fan with a carbon filter in each tent and it has yet to leave the low setting. The 32" tent has a 315CMH in it just fyi.

Did you start your seedlings in cups from Dunks or are you in Mary Lou’s territory?

Definitely Dunks man. I'd have to take the expressway through the city to get to a Mary Lou's and I best have already had my coffee before I make that ride!

Ok. I made the final purchases to get going on this. Probably a few items extra I’ll need but this should mostly cover it. Let me know if anything jumps out that you think I’ll need. I will likely pick up a small dehumidifier sometime soon.

if i remember correctly, my water is slightly alkaline. i have a liquid pH test kit from when i started my aquarium 10+ years ago. hopefully it still works. if not, are the test strips effective?

as for pH up/down. can’t i just use vinegar or baking soda?

pretty sure it’s effective. my only concern is fruit flies. since i believe my water to be slightly alkaline, ill have to use vinegar. not sure if it’s enough vinegar to actually attract them.

Yep, the test kits with the drops are effective. I keep a kit on hand in case I need to see if my pH pen is out of whack.

planning to have a few beers, couple tokes of cashmere, and get the tent and light set up later on. outdoors temps down to 34 F tonight. curious to track temps inside the grow space with lights running.

i have some wifi temperature probes i can leave one inside the grow tent, and one outside of it to monitor ambient temps. hopefully it will stay at something i can work with.

Just get yourself some real pH up and down. They're cheap, and then you aren't having to guess how well baking soda and vinegar are working.

well, i think before i make another purchase i need to test the pH of my tap water.

how reliable are those pens? can you suggest a decent one? that’s a whole lot easier than the liquid test kits, but are they as effective?

Depends on how much you want to spend, i use blue lab, i also have a cheap one from Ebay that is pretty accurate

I think i gave around $60 or $70 bucks for the blue lab and $12 for cheap one

i’ll probably just go ahead and get a blue lab. im pretty close to having everything i need. also pretty close to eating chef boy ardee for a couple weeks.

Happy Frog is good. Kind of pricey, but it's good.
