DIYocto-pot

Getting the hole in the tote lid the right size is a little tricky, some trial and error there.

I have 1 row of nipples below the tote lid to hold it all together.

Do not forget to ziptie the net pot to the upper pot or else when you go to look at your roots in the res the net pot will fall out the bottom and all your dirt will fall in the res. The tote lid doesn't need to be zip tied just the net pot and the upper pot.

They take me about 45 minutes to make one.

Hi mr.head did you ever get your diy octopot to work successful...thanks

I ended up tossing them during spring cleaning. They were taking up too much space and were a pain in the ass to take apart and put back together.

So I decided to read the octopots site. They said this would happen lol. I gotta do things for myself and learn the hard way, story of my life.

They also say air stones can cause PH swings, that's neat didn't realize that would happen. Going to fill one with Promix and Perlite and Synthetic feeds and go from there.

Probably find a clear plastic and make a little dome like they do with their octopots and try and drop a clone right in one as I use an aero cloner for other clones.
Was just looking for Autopot alternatives as don't wanna support the company that distributes them here in Canuck land. GH had the issue with their water farm system until they added a small pump to recirculate the water. Each bucket would always end up with different ph levels.

Hi,

I was fascinated by the octopus system too, because they say it tastes like soil with the advantages of hydro. Is this really true?

There are 3 options...and the first goal is BIG YIELD then comes TASTE, SMELL, HIGH etc

1. DIY Octopot for my first Hydro Grow
2. BUY or build a pure hydro DWC system for first grow
3. Grow in Air Pots with Coco or Super Soil

Whats the best option? Is DIY OCTOPOT a bit difficult for a new grower and first try hydro grower? Should I buy them if I really want to grow with their soil/hydro system
