Okay I won't be able to delete this thread but I'm not logging in again after this. This is the answer. Good luck to anyone that can't understand it.

When calcium nitrate is combined with amino acids they chelate. because of the L chain on the amino molecule. Once it chelates, the Nitrogen will become part of the molecule and hence not taken up as food. This also adds an opposing charge to the molecule as well, which means the plants absorbs calcium a thousand times faster than just going up one ion at a time through the transportation stream.

This calcium the plant takes up does not get used for food but as a physical building block for the plant. The calcium reacts with Pectic acid to create pectin. With high enough levels of calcium uptake; it will replace the water that is in the interstitial space that joins the cell walls together.

What this means for it being used as a fungicide is that when a spore lands on a leaf it will send out a germination tube (they won't sporulate in just water). It HAS to be water that is contained in the leaf for it to reproduce. However, because of the wall of pectin it has to get through the germination tube will wither up and die first. Hence preventing it from reproducing. It doesn't actually kill the fungus.

This was the result of the Dutch government banning fungicides back in 2014. All horticultural industries suffered a 40% loss in yield across the board. Once this discovery was put into practice the yield loss went from 40% to 0%. With a 10% increase in yields. This was just ONE positive effect of increasing calcium uptake. Any grower that is worth his salt would never talk down the benefits of calcium for a plant.

Anyways that all from me...You have Mr.head to thank for me giving up on you guys.

thanks for explaining yourself. But let me ask you this, do you honestly think they just let their plants grow all over themselves and didn't take other preventative measures as well? Do you not think this response could be overwhelmed by providing the perfect environment for mold to develop? Such as areas where leaves are overlapping and humidity is around 100%?

How do you get an accurate VPD measurement in a canopy that's going to have such varying temperatures and humidities depending on depth and amount of foliage?

I just see it as removing the possibility of catastrophy for -0 loss. There's no reason not to do it. But hey you do you boo boo. Again thanks for explaining what part of a 40 fucking minute video you were talking about.

We have very different interpretations.

a 70F room with a 30%RH is 1.46 KPa....

just sayin lol. Lower the temp lower the KPa. it's pretty useless without the other information.

What you’re talking about here is micro climates between leaf surface.

Fell prey to this once.

same. it's why i'm showing concern for dudes grow but he took it as an attack rather than someone trying to help. I toned down my "fuckins" and "idiots" too.

Told him to message me on IG was going to send him some cuts if he was in Canada, now he's gone FOREVER.

It happens mate.

ive been here since 2010 with years in and out of RIU I miss RIDDLEME. Lol.

He left to set up his own forum for true experienced growers.

Another was FDD2BLK another legend I don’t see much of @curious2garden is another one who’s over looked for their experience along with @spek9 @homebrewer @uncleben @Bricktop to name a few.

The trouble is that the experienced growers who have stuck around on RIU to help the broscience believers change their mind get nothing but flamed by people who’ve had a couple of grows under their belt and become experts.

the thing most “newer” growers forget is that the older guys believe in working smarter and not harder.

for instance @homebrewer has been saying to people for years about DYNAGRO nutrients but because they were cheap or more geared towards VEG NPK ratios people didn’t or don’t believe him.

Another thing is that VPD doesn’t play much part in most average growers lives due to the way we intake and exhaust air.

If fans are set to control temps then you end up chasing perfect RH for VPD to be adhered to and then you end up buying more kit to compensate and Adjust etc as the temp rises your fans kick on higher and remove RH. you then add more moisture via a humidifier for it to be sucked out with the warm air lol.
Then you end up in a cycle of trying and trying instead of using 40-65% Rh and stop worrying lol.

Thanks! That is very kind of you. Don't forget yourself and all the help you've given so many. Another great grower is @Dr. Who There are really a bunch of terrific growers here on RIU

I appreciate the kind shout out there, thanks a lot!

I always remembered following your advice before you left there for a while as well.
