God... As I type this, I'm waiting for yet another attempt from Jerry at Good ol' KingBrite to do his best at explaining how the Fuck this works. I'm so curious how these boards are wired internally so that when you flip OFF the switch, the HLG-***H-54A driver still works. Is it as if the reds/ir/UV are on a completely separate Board and the switch acts as if you were just re/disconnecting the board from the driver on its own parallel circuit? Do they have them wired into the board internally on their own in series/parallel so they equal the 54ish volts?

Thanks @Oldskoolsmoker My thoughts were the less on board chips the less to go wrong. As well the other chips FR, UV could be robbing some of the power?? I understand that in the right combo the FR causes the Emerson effect but too much can cause shade avoidance. THis has always made me nervous, as I use FR in my current setup to put plants to sleep.

How about spectrum. 4000K, 3500k,3000k It was thinking 3500 or 4000k. My buddy does have a slight height requirement so I was thinking those spectrum's may help with node spacing. Any input or experience with those spectrums. Buddy's space requires multiple 240 kits.

Money is tight and canadian dollar sucks. I think my friend is gunna be happy coming from viper spectra to an affordable solution.

I'm pretty sure you can get boards without the 730nm.

After navigating their site I see the picture better. Yes there are several configurations i see. I will think about ordering the kits or just building. Nice they have the boards and heatsinks too that can be ordered seperatly. I have always liked single heatsinks with angled aluminum. It allows for versatility on design.

Still not sure on the IR or UV. I was thinking cree rather than epistar.

I'm pretty sure you can get boards without the 730nm.

Sounds like that's exactly how it'd work to me. Flip the reds on and you'll lose a little bit of power to your white diodes.

Well I learnt that they use exclusively CV drivers so it must be that the reds/ir/UV on that switch equal to 54V however they're wired so when they're off, it just puts that current to the sammies.

I sometimes think more isn't always better. But it sounds pretty dope if all that spectrum was done well. Its tempting going for the added FR and UV. As I mentioned these are for a friend so it would be nice is this was solid board. I would want problems. It would be great to know how they wired the internal works for the switch though. Perhaps doesn't want the secret leaked to USA..

Well after looking and finding specs and navigating ali's messed site its making sense. I see the spectrum charts show a spike in the red with cree vs epistar. But it looks as if the blues dip a bit more with the cree as well. Ill spend some time looking and perhaps send an email. Would Jerry be the best to get a hold of?

No switches for separate channels, just all on or all off.
Personally, I don't see the point of the on/off switches as the Sun doesn't have one and plants grow very well with sunlight!
I think @nachooo runs uv from vegging through to flowering with great results.

R2T was one of the first companies to offer the option of the extra uv, 660nm + 730nm on a single channel board.
I use them for flowering but they'd veg well too.
I haven't had any issues with them, I've had them nearly a year and a half now.

You'd need to email Russell and ask for a price for the boards on their own. I got them nearly A yr n a 1/2 ago now.
I just checked, per board edited there. I payed £45 a 512 disco board
A QB288 is around £63 a board

I paid $345 US for the board, and $75 US for shipping. Canadian Duty was $43.


Sorry guys, but I am new to this stuff. lol I have grown outdoors but don't like the issues with bugs, neighbors, the fuzz and so on.
My son had bought from KingBrite and then I did as much reading on Quantum boards as I could. I wanted the lights to be dimmable without having to remove a drive and turn it over to do it. So many people seem to be happy with the lights, and I watched a video from Dr. Bruce Buggbee about how important far reds are in the flowering stage, and the extra trichome production and denser flowers that can be produced while using them in flower, and bingo... I saw this board, it was new for 2020, in was in my budget so why not. The covid19 and the shitty Canadian dollar made me buy it. lol
In a 4x4 tent hung 30" about the canopy, I am running around 77 degrees, 41 percent humidity and have a single fan above the light facing a wall to gently blow the leaves. And I have a 6" Infinity inline fan running at 2 power.

I assume they wire similar to the 288's?

Spectrum wise it all depends on what you’re after. I went with King Brite for my veg and flower setup and I couldn’t be more pleased. I went with 4000k for my veg set up and 3000k w/ Cree 660 for my flower setup. I run my FR spectrum in the form of four QB11 strips on a separate dimmable driver. I planned to add some of the blue spectrum into the flower tent with some QB11 strips but at this point in time I’m waiting on some UVA/B T5 bulbs that include the desired spectrum range that I’m after. Two birds with one stone.

Nothing but solid experiences with KB

I wired mine in series. 4 qb11 730nm on a hlg-80h-c700b. Worked great.

I'm growing 2 plants in my closet right now which is about a 2x4' space.
