The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Right folks, I've been chatting to a guy from Shenzen Bright tech.

He's offering a 56cm strip with 248 diodes. 8 deep red and 2 far red

Here's what the spec he sent me, let me know what you think

size: 560x75mm
Led quantity: 248pcs lm301b and 10pcs OSRAM red led.
lm301b: 62S4P
Red led: 10S1P lm301b and red led in a Series.
Input volts: DC180-220V Max current 800mA
size: 560x75mm
Have fun with that... What a horrible layout. Why would you wire a board to be 180V? Meanwell Constant Voltages are Max 54-57ish Volts so you'd be stuck with series wiring and super high and dangerous DC voltages.

Tell him to re-do his series parallel wiring to come out with a lower, 36-54V strip and you'll be interested.

Ok fuck it. So what about those R2T strips linked up there. I've also had a new quote from them and the delivery is back in a reasonable range

If he did, would the specs on those strips be decent If so how would they compare to what's been linked so far in this thread - and would I be able to link them end to end to make a 120cm strip?

It was a joke. Sorta... I'd still get back to him and tell him to re do his internal wiring because 180-220v DC is ridiculous. Such high voltage for no reason. That's why all the boards you see are usually 48-56v and are compatible with parallel wiring on constant voltage drivers

Hey man.the while point of my post is that it is rediculous to be splitting hairs over diodes.
You can't split hairs over 50 percent savings but from meijiu or kingbrite.
This is true and also why we are China's bitch if I couldn't wire them myself I would buy knockoffs on flip side if you can wire the LEDs themselves then you can probably be 50 percent cheaper than Chinese ie build the PCB and be higher quality so many choices

Has anyone tried out the Bava boards from Alibaba ?

I've bought 4 from them and so far cant knock them.

I got 4 of these

I like how you can switch certain colours off but I run everything all through veg and bloom.

I also have 36 x citizen CLU048 1212 running on 6 x HLG 320H C1400B that I remove or add cobs and driver depending on the situation. The cobs were my first dabble in LEDS as I was a big fan of CMH previously. No going back ✌

I. Ant get my pics up but I have Chinese DIY quantum board light builds the HLG 550 v2 Rspec and the SF-4000 both lights are crushing the tents as well as the name brand ones but a HELL of a lot cheaper!!! Both lights Meijiu company made ordered from Alibaba

Wow had no idea they were in the board game. I got a BUNCH of heatsinks custom made by them for me and was super happy with the work they did. Might have to start reccomebdibg them to people.

So, he did get back to me with this response:

Regarding the 560x75mm lm301b strip with OSRAM red led that we talked, Yes, we can redo the wring for you, make the volts close to 36-54V, pls tell me your driver parameter, will redo the design of the board match your driver.

Well damn, tell him the lower the better! If you can get it down to 24 it opens up the ability to use a 24v driver OR a 48v by running 2 together in series. So many more options.

So give me an example of what I can do with this setup.

How many strips and drivers etc. I'm a noob at this stuff so break it down into laymans terms for me brother. Cheers

Dunno what you mean exactly but having lower voltage strips gives you more options for drivers. You'll be able to use parallel wiring circuits rather than having to use series.

Ok so I keep popping up intermittently asking these questions every so often so I get that some folk might think I can't be bothered doing my own reseach/learning.

Truth is, I've been doing 60hr weeks in work, looking after my 3yr old little queen, managing my home garden and my allotment, and in between that, trying to scrape the odd hour to gather enough basic info from scratch to set up a decent LED system while trying to keep my eyes open.

The sum total of my night's research must be minutes before my eyes are shutting and my head's dropping. So bear with me.

I'll have a good bit more time after next week and I'll be able to spend like a full day doing the stuff I need to.

But.. I'm trying to get at least one side set up and running, and as you know, the array of options and variables with LED lighting, to someone completely new to it like me, is a bit daunting.

In a nutshell... These are, based on my limited knowledge, my barometer

https://kingbriteled.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-817198142/Single_Bar_L1100mm.html?spm=a2700.icbuShop.88.30.702a6cb5RtEVeX

This is what my noob ass basically whittled my options down to based on the basic factors of user feedback and reviews. I never even had an Alibaba account til you guys recommended it to me.

End of the day... If I'm ordering from China and expecting at least a 8-10 day minimum postage time, I can get that done, buy my Drivers from Digikey, and then get my basic knowledge re` wiring etc during that time.

Is it worth me haggling with the Shenzen bright guy, or getting the R2T strips, or going the Digikey route?

If there's a significant difference, I'll swerve the Kingbrite strips and do that.

Just to add a couple of questions

1: How many 1m strips is the most you would spread 450w over? Is there an upper limit? If so why?

2: Does penetration efficacy drop as the diode is dimmed, or if it is dimmed too much?
Does a strip have better penetration if it is run on a higher power?

Thanks again for the help of the peeps in this thread btw. I'm dropping a couple of K on this so I appreciate it.

Do you mean 2 lights linked, from one driver?

Oh, and he said give me an idea of your driver parameter. So, if I'm looking to run a (roughly) 450w fixture with the option to dim, using a recommended amount of strips (give me an idea of optimum in your opinions) what should I be looking for?
