Just curious, what kind of handler/s did you get with yours?
I had zero problems with mine in the few years of service before i lost em.

On another note I'm so close to being able to run all year without much ac at all maybe even a window unit(in a lung room) I feel like I'm giving up by buying ac. As long as my incoming air isn't above 60 degrees I can keep temps at 80 with exhuast fan. From looking at weather history I don't see many if any nights over 66 degrees.
Still going with the minis in the room so I dont have to worry about it but feel like I could make it work without them.

Will those Mideas work? Yeah, most of the time. but as someone thats had Mitsubishi's in the past and has the Midea's now, I wish I had Mitsubishi.
I got the ceiling / "floor" mount, it's a finished unit that I hung from the floor joists using unistrut. It's like the one you linked but it's got a finished housing and the vane that can swing or be aimed.

Well he can count on about 3.5 btu/hr per watt of light. Add to that the heat from other appliances. 2 tons won't cut 8 DE's

Yeah i was saying, my new setup I got two of those floor/ceiling mounts. It works. I really liked the ducted handlers though. You can aim the ac’s air in four directions. But nobody has the ducting take-off for them anymore.

Maybe use that like I did and run one room without AC, get a bad ass AC for the other one. Then later get another bad ass AC for the other room.
I been eyeing the midea units they sound great. Yeah I can def run the electric for em but worried about making flares and vaccing lineset. Also I knew renfro had some so had previously asked if he would buy again and he said had some issues. I wanted to buy the ducted ones but just run them without ducting is that possible? Cause I'm still eyeing those units.
Another question, I believe ideal air has flexible line sets that already have flares they look really convient and easy to install. Anyone know if they are any good?

Yes they are good. They have quick connects. Even a lineset you order with the midea unit will come flared and you could make a loop to eat slack. I still always reflare mine just because I can do it better and I trust it that way.

As far as sealing, the QC's are just as reliable as the flares IMO. We all prefer to have them brazed but units often don't pigtail and allow for that, instead there are the male flared ports right on the brass valve that holds the factory charge in the condenser. One thing I will say, the mideas I have it was a mega bitch to hook up the evaporator end of the lines because of clearance inside the unit for wrenches where the ports are located.

2 ton will give 24,000 btu. Oversizing will cool the room too quick without dehumidifying. I don't know much about cooling a grow room tho. 800 sq ft is good for 2 tons of air in a regular situation. He only has 588.
2.5 tons? Would give 30,000. Pushing it there.
What do you mean by ducting take off? I swear I've sent units like that in pictures with no ducting at all hooked to em. What brand are the units in that picture, they look really good sitting there lol.

they look just like mine. You were smart to anchor them. I had one that wasn't anchored and a high wind storm blew it over lol. I was lucky I was in the middle of harvest anyway and that I had the tools to repair the kinked line set, pressure test, evacuate and recharge it.

They make ducted units now.
Your not accounting for the heat load of the lights. Most people are using a min of about 4500 btu to about 6000btu per 1000 watt fixture.

If you go with the midea then go with the 6000 # and if you go with mitsubishi the 4500 # will be applicable.

So, that “ducted” handler like the one i posted a link to. USUALLY you would run ducting off the front. You don’t have to, but they are pretty mich made to mount above ceiling and be ducted to room. Although they are low static i believe. They probably wouldn’t be my choice for that situation. Hanging from a growroom ceiling, you can put a ducting take-off on the front and attach 90’s or lengths of ducting to distribute the air better within the room.

I always redo factory flares.
No need to buy anything more expensive.
