Greeting everyone! Planning my first grow ever and have decided on a 2x4 tent. I’m on a budget so all of my resources certainly aren’t the most expensive and may not be the preference of most, but I feel like it will work for me as a beginner. If anyone has any insight on these brands/products I would greatly appreciate it. I’m sure I will be upgrading equipment after a few grows. Thanks in advance!

2x4 tent
iPower 4in 190 CFM charcoal fan
7gal fabric pots- 3 plants
HIGROW 1500W Double Chips LED (~300 true output)
Dr Earth Veg blend & Flower Girl
Kellog’s Premium organic soil

I don't think you'll be able to get the plant size that would justify such a large pot in that size of tent (assuming its a 2x4x5'). I use three gallon pots and I veg for eight weeks in a 2x4x5', but I flower in a 4x4x7' tent. Unless you plan on doing a very long veg period with tons of training, I'd go with two gallon pots (three at most).

Seven gallon pots and you'll just be wasting medium and floor space.

I have a 3 gallon and a 2 gallon in my 2x4. I wish I would have only used a 2 gallon. I also wish I would have put the beans on the very edge of the pot for LST purposes.

When I first started out indoor, I began with only a 2x4x5' for my first run. The tent quickly became the flower tent as I had built a clone box and bought a 2x3x3' for veg. I grew several styles, from Coke bottles with 24 plants to three gallon pots with four plants. I found the optimum for me was two gallon when I ran flower in the 2x4x5'.

I grow the same way now, but all of my tents have been upsized, and I've doubled up on my tents so I have two environments exactly the same. One 2x3x3' for all clones, and a 2x4x5' and 4x4x7' for the two separate veg and flower tents (I have production and experiments veg/flower setups). In my production flower tents, I run only four plants at a time, harvesting two every five weeks. I now use three gallon pots for everything.

How successful were your SOG grows? I think I would like that method

Went well. I had a perpetual going. Every three weeks, eight freshly rooted clones went into 2L Coke bottles, into an eight-bottle carrier I found conveniently beside a convenience store, and went under 12/12 right away. At the same time new ones went in, eight would be harvested. There were three batches of eight plants in the tent at all times.

Harvests were very small per plant, but overall were decent. I got sick of so many plants though. That's why I have whittled my way down to only four in a 4x4 tent.

Tent is 2x4x5. Seeds have been outdoor for 10 days now so will be bringing them in. Haven’t opened the 7gal pot so might return for 3 gallon ones

Be very careful about bringing outdoor plants indoors. Very often that's how pest infestations are started.

Where do you live? Can you just grow them outdoors?

I live in NE Texas. Considered leaving outside but one got crippled by the sun, one died, so I figured better if I can control the environment.

I could just leave these 4 outside and start 4 new ones to go in tent. Let them ride outside and see how big they get. Hmmm...

Are there any pesticides or methods that are recommended if I decide to move them inside?

To help keep the pests away, would it be alright to put a small lavender or sage plant in the tent? Just spitballin here.
