Inline fan inside or outside of tent?

In my 36"x20"x62" I have two grow lights that will be going inside(I bought two cheap lights instead of one really nice one. I am not sure if I will have room to hang my two lights, inline fan and carbon filter.

Will it be okay if I have my fan/filter on the outside of the tent? Or should I just try my best to squeeze it in?
Is there real benefit to having my fan/filter inside of the tent? Btw this will be in my dusty garage so maybe my filter will get dirtier faster if its outside?

I would probably do filter inside the tent, fan out. Connect them together and put them in a vent hole, pull the vent hole string tight. You want the fan PULLING air through the filter and out the tent.

As a space saver you could strap the filter vertical in the top corner of your tent with the connector at the roof outlet and strap the fan to it pointing straight up. Only space you’ll be using is one top corner of your tent which is space rarely used anyway (keep the middle free for lights). Just be sure to pay special attention to securing it in place as this set up is a little bit more awkward.

The filter needs to be inside the tent unless it's an inline filter. This is to provide the negative pressure / odor control.

A push / pull system with two fans is ideal. In this case the smaller fan is generally used for the intake so as to allow for the negative pressure. Make sure you are pulling cool air in the bottom and exhausting hot air out the top (carbon filter located up high).

Avoid pumping the hot air into the same space that you are grabbing the intake air from unless you have adequate air conditioning / dehumidification in that "lung" room.

It is an inline fan (ac infinity s4) and a carbon filter (ac infinity). I'll make sure to keep my carbon filter high and try to keep it inside, if it fits. As well as adding a clip on fan to rotate the bottom air.

I’m having this problem right now. Plants are in flower and since I’m exhausting into the same small space my tent is in I can’t seem to get RH below ~80%. I open the tent up and water is running down the sides. I check daily for bud rot and I feel like it’s just a matter of time before I find it.

My lung room (detach garage) only has small gaps by the garage door. But if I smoke one gram of joints in there, the smell goes away after about 24 hours.

I am hoping that opening my lung room(detach garage) every 24 hours will be sufficient for "fresh" air

Get a dehumidifier ASAP. You are setting yourself up for disaster. Like go get one first thing in the morning. Call in to work if you have to. At least a 30 pint unit.

I’m thinking about just punching through the wall into the adjacent closet. I’m only hesitant to do so because I would be pissed if I went through all of that and it didn’t solve the problem.

How much water are you giving your plants? If its more than like a half gallon a day you will likely NEED a dehumidifier. Whatever water you put into them eventually ends up in the air. Imagine you are giving your girls an average of a gallon a day- thats no different than feeding a humidifier a gallon of water a day and wondering why your house is so humid.

Yeah it’s actually about a gallon. I’m doing coco in fabric and I always water to probably around 50% runoff.

Also could you give your advice on this. I was thinking magnesium deficiency? Emerald harvest 3 part series Blume nutes with 2 mL of calmag per gallon in coco under HLG 135 qb. I bought some Epsom salt to potentially put in there. @Renfro ?

Yeah man any water that isnt runoff the plants will put into the air. A gallon isnt that much water but its still a pretty good amount to put into the air in your house. If it was winter and snowing, a forced air furnace would pretty easily pull a gallon of water out of the air every day. If it was the heat of summer, an air conditioner would probably pull most of that water out of the air. But im guessing your weather is mild and your not running much heat or ac. Head to the hardware store and pick up a dehumidifier.

This mod I did holds the filter up as high as it can go and makes it a LOT easier to install and remove. All you need to do is hang it from one of the top support bars.
