Periodically I put in the odd carnivorous plants in my veg and flower tents as I see them on sale at places like the grocery store.
Yeah I wouldn't reccomend that for a first timer. That's like giving a newbie in cannabis growing an unrooted clone. The dormant plant would certainly work but it'll be very slow to reactivate and then slow to actually start growing. I reccomend a fresh one if you can find it, I think they sell active ones on amazon. That way you can get to know how the plant reacts to certain things and how it grows. There's a smaller learning curve than cannabis though that's for sure haha.

Not a stupid question at all! Carnivorous plants will attract bugs inside the grow tent but anything outside will be oblivious to it's existence. The only bugs it catches will be ones that would have been on your plants!

That’s why your flytraps live. I’ve killed two in California. Not much humidity here.
Remember no nutes in the medium and distilled water. I'm sure humidity was your problem in California but for anyone who might see this thread that's the biggest rule of carnivorous plants.

Nope. The margin's little hairs have small openings so that the plant doesn't waste its precious energy on trapping tiny insects. The traps can only shut a few times before it dies and wilts off of the plant, so they need the kill to be worthwhile.
