I’m new here but I’ve been doing a ton of research and was hoping some people could give some advice on ventilation in a southern garage.
I have a 20x20 partially-insulated 2 car attached garage in Florida. It unfortunately doesn’t have a door or window besides the main garage door. Obviously ambient temperatures run high as well as humidity. My main questions stem from needing an inconspicuous way to exhaust through my garage door or roof. I own the home but want as little damage as possible so the roof option scares me. I can’t easily vent into my attic space without causing damage or intake from there with it being so hot. Also, I live in an area with an HOA and it makes me nervous to be leaving my garage door up in any capacity.
I am looking into putting in a mini split because the portable AC units have a bad rep and also add to my exhaust issues. I don’t have the option of a window unit and my homes air conditioning unit is only 2 tons for 1,460 sq.ft. so leaving a door open or adding a vent from my main unit into the garage would cause the rest of my home to run warm.
Growing 20-24 plants in 5 or 7 gallon buckets of organic soil. Planning to use a 10x10 Tent. (4) 1000W Bestva Full Specteum LED Lights that go up to 780nm. An 8 inch AC Infinity Carbon Filter plus a AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T8 Inline Duct Fan 807 CFM with remote (for humidity and temperature) for exhausting heat. Inside the tent i’ll have multiple 16 inch oscillating fans hung above (2-4) and a Lasko 4930 Tower fan on the ground. I’ll probably use pot elevators to help with air flow. I’ll also be using a 6 inch 442 CFM Inline Duct Fan for air intake at the bottom of the tent which would either need to pull air from garage or outside. Outside air is very warm so I don’t think this is a feasible option. I plan to purchase a dehumidifier If needed too.
I’ve seen people put up a wall and create an open room with no tent but I don’t have much knowledge on this topic. I do plan to upgrade lighting in the future and insulate the garage door at least. I have barely started to dive into the addition of CO2 but have some cheaper options like exhale bags, the grow bro CO2 generator, the green pad, CO2 air forced buckets, etc. any advice on this as well is welcome.
**The alternative to grow in a spare bedroom is optional but not favorable because of size and loosing a guest bedroom isn’t good. We’d have to reduce our grow size as a whole and I’d rather have the privacy of the garage.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this and respond!
