First organic grow

That and they are always available. Nothing special needed....just a decent size tote with a lid. Drill tiny holes everywhere and your done. Grab some paper , rip it up, soak it in water for a minute, wring it out so its not dripping wet , put that in the bottom of the tote, add table scraps and a handful of dirt , then top off with more paper.....your up and running. Very very simple. If the worms try to leave then somwething is wrong in the bin. (too much moisture , too dry , not enough food ect...)
You can leave them be for months at a time if you really have to.
Shit I might just get on that here soon! Won’t help this grow, I’ll keep it in the heated garage so the wife doesn’t lose her shit lol.

im gonna throw some powder nutes in some used soil and see what i get. im gonna use a couple tbsp per gallon plus lime and myco and cook it for a couple weeks or so. im anxious now :weed:
Can’t hurt man give it a go! So far so good on my end. They’re just starting to get their smell. Smells like the advertised strawberries. Now I’m playing the how much am I going to yield game... trying to be patient. Rather get a solid boutique grow then totally worry about yield... but ya know lol.

It dont stink at all unless you put thick meat in there. or maybe cheese. those take too long to break down without a smell.....so those two stay out of the bin. onions tend to stink too but that was whole onions...should of cut them up. temps over 50 are fine.... sometimes they can handle lower but a healthy bin will be between 50 and 90 ish...

Start of week 5 flower today. Still look to be doing great and buds are fattening up nicely by the day. Final top dress tomorrow just going to use the 2-8-4 bloom only.

Each pot got 5 table spoons of 2-8-4 and 3 cups of worm castings. Just water from here on out and hopefully they fade nicely at the end of flower.

I’ve also heard adding brown sugar to the last two weeks worth of waterings, if anyone knows much on this I’m all ears?

What powder do you use to ph down as my water is the same range as yours
It’s called TNB down. It claims to be all natural and works great. I know soil is supposed to buffer ph but I think 8.5-9 like mine is way too high to rely on the soil alone.

Started week 6 yesterday. Took the trellis and frame down as the humidity was around 60%. Held any stems up by gardening wire and bamboo stakes into the soil. Smells amazing like strawberries and blueberries.

Lowest leaves getting minimal light dying off which is par for the course. Don’t have any deficiency issues on the healthy leaves that I can see. Just under 4 weeks left if this is a 9 week flowering strain.

Day 59 flower (8.5 weeks), starting to fade nicely (hard to see in the pics). Checked the trichomes but a ways out yet. I’d guess another 7-10 days at least.

Looking good man. Its a shame we can't get Gaia products where I'm at. I'm looking into earth dust I guess its a rather similar product. Really great looking stuff man

Thanks man! Yeah it’s a solid Canadian product from everything I keep hearing, that’s why I went with it. Getting antsy to get it finished, dried and weighed lol. Won’t rush it none the less.

Damn I guess that Gaia is the real deal. This is awesome man, did you do soil your last 2 grows?
No the first was coco and Gaia Green, but I had no clue what I was doing haha. Second was coco and liquid nutes. A lot better results. I built this soil (with Gaia) from scratch about 45 days before transplanting from the cell pots to 6.3 gal.

Well Done! They look super happy!

I use Gaia green, the dry amendments you mentioned are great.
I suggest you add some dolomite lime next time.
Also, some strains seem to be pigs on Cal-Mg-Fe you may want to source those out and top dress.
Additionally, some silica in the form of rice hulls.

What do you use for cal mag fe? Thanks for sharing your info.

Hi all! New to the site, figured I’d throw my first organic grow out there and see how she looks. First two grows were coco and synthetic nutes.

This grow I made my own soil a few months ago and is the following:
- 1/3 Sea Soil organic compost
- 1/3 peat moss
- 1/3 lava rock
- Gaia Green dry amendments (80% 4-4-4, 20% 2-8-4)

Activated it with de chlorinated water with molasses and liquid kelp. Added in Mycorrhizae.

let the soil “cook” so to speak for 45 days, started seeds in just that soil mix without the dry amendments as the seedlings don’t require it.

Strain is Strawberry Cough from Rocket Seeds (purchased through Crop King Seeds out of Vancouver).

Followed the VPD chart perfectly and the girls seem to be thriving. Did one compost tea May 29th. As of today June 2nd they’re 39 days from breaking soil. They’re from cell pots right into 6.3 gal fabric pots but only about 5 gal of soil. Added red clover for a cover crop as well. Topped once a few weeks ago and a second (last time) today. Popping into flower in 2.5 weeks so that’ll be 8 weeks total.

3.5’x3.5’ grow tent (pushing it for the plants but it’ll work) and lights are QLED. There’s 7 of them at 3’ lengths. I believe they say 37W per light which seems low but any grows I’ve done or have seen they do quite amazing!

going to trellis right before popping into flower to even the canopy.

Lastly I have been ph-ing my water down with an organic powder as I water supply is crazy high at 8.5. Even after it is dechlorinated with the bubbler for 24hrs.

I think thats all I can think of at the moment, feel free to let me know what you think, take in mind first organic grow and only third ever..
Thanks for sharing.

What lava rock do you use? The same kind for hydro thats in ball form or a smaller form?

I use just regular bagged lava rock. Any size/kind will work from what I’ve seen. What I have is roughly 3/8”-3/4” in size. I can’t stand perlite as it floats up and deteriorated over time. To each their own, but with lava rock or pumice you won’t need to replace over time.

The Gaia Green has micro nutrients in it, but I added Gaia Epsom salts in a watering (once in mid veg, once in mid flower Only). That seems to keep the mag/fe from becoming an issue, and as far as cal goes my water has a ton of it in it. Never had an issue yet. Take into account this is Strawberry Cough in soil, another strain might require more.

I use this in my planted aquarium. Thinks its safe to use for weed? I have a bag left over.
