I was doing some searching when I ran into this post and had to comment....STAY AWAY FROM GROWER'S CHOICE!
I bought two of their E-680's and they worked great, so I decided to get two more lights this time the e720's. I received them last Monday and put them up this weekend. First thing I noticed was the light controller had light scratches on top and the LCD screen was bland not as colorful as depicted. I also noticed the chords were already attached to the lights and not tightly bound like the previous lights I received which gave the impression these were used...but I'm being paranoid right? So up they go anyway.
First thing I did upon set up was break out the ol' PAR Meter and check Umols and boy was I shocked... on a literal side by side comparison and a 6 inch distance from the lights the e720 on standard mode produced 100-150 LESS Umols than the e680. I never got to test "boost" mode because the light doesn't have a "boost" selection on the knob.... so you boost it from the controller right? Wrong, the controller does not allow you to go above 110%, which upon testing didn't make any difference Umol wise.
These are shipped directly from the GC warehouse so no chance of the seller messing with them and what are the chances they both got damaged in route without any Physical damage to the box or light? I can only conclude that GC sent me used/returned/damaged equipment. I contacted the seller this morning, who contacted GC who said
"Attached are the return labels for this customer's entire order. We do not sell used items.
However, we do not want him to feel like he was wronged. The best way to resolve this would be a full return"
So then how do you explain the pictures? No explanation. No reasonable solution. No exchanges just send them back and sorry about not having any lights during flowering. This is all very fresh so I'm going to be hassling with them for a bit and in the meantime my plants suffer. i will keep you guys updated on their solution methods to this colossal pain in the arse.
What's with the scratches right out of the box?
Does this look like it was wrapped by a machine or a stoned human?
Literal side by side comparison with the E720 on the left and E680 on the right
1119 Umols from the E720 at 6 inches away from the diodes. Sorry about the pics, it's not easy juggling 3 items while taking pictures
1290 umols from E680
So what do you all think?
