Ginsburg's quote is below in bold. Ginsburg was defending state approved same sex marriage at a hearing and was responding to a DOMA advocate. On the surface it looks like she's all about liberating gay people, but it isn't about that at all.

Ginsburg wanted to broaden who MUST ask government for permission to be married to include gay people. Except, nobody should have to be "licensed" by the state to be married, straight people or gay people.

To do that, is an INCREASE in the people who must seek government approval to be married and who must seek government approval to divorce etc.
That is equality of and expansion of oppression over people, not liberation.

Marriage is stupid anyways, but it is used as a legal status in our country for taxes, hospitals and such. It wasn't about 'liberation' it was about equal protections under the law.

And why is it everytime a republican leaves office the economy is in shambles and the debt is several trillion higher? Maybe cut taxes for millionaires more, they need the money for a new yacht.

I worked with a guy who had statutory rape charges brought against him for having sex with a 16 yr old. He was 18 or 19 at the time and the dad found out. I think they arrested him and the dad droppes the charges. I was trying to see it his way but years later he was still defending himself. I didn't need to know that about him but he shared it freely. Maybe Rob Roy went through something similar?

Expanding who MUST seek permission from government to be married/divorced does not protect liberty, it expands government control on a more equal basis. Marriage isn't anything more than making an agreement and/or commitment between the involved parties.

Involving a dictatorial third party won't give a gay person any more rights, it will reduce their rights.

She has almost completed her mission, which was to bring a Liberal point of view/interpretation of the Constitution, which in it's day was a liberal/progressive document, historically speaking not far removed from the Communist Manifesto.
Fucking brilliant woman, who helped too maintain some sense of decency in the Supreme Court.
