24 hours of darkness...here we go

I don't know about this.
I once accidentally left my plants in dark for 3 days , unplugged my timer to change it to 12/12 and plugged it back in without the plug in it.

It did seem that grow developed flowers much faster and had considerably less stretch.
Could be coincidence though. Yet to try a side by side.
There is scientific reasoning behind it though, growth hormone can build up faster without light.

A lack of stretch is desirable and a result of a correct flip and lamp hight but most certainly not because of three days darkness.

Well stretch happens at night but requires the energy stored during light hours, when you have a long period of dark you deprive the plant of the energy it needs to elongate.
That's the theory anyway, not saying its correct but it is the theory behind stretch which some do buy into.

Personally I like a bit of stretch anyway.

I found that having a negative temperature differential works great to limit the stretch. Or at least not much warmer during lights on. And I think it helps to not let the temp rise drastically when the lights first turn on if you can help it. I also think watering with cold water makes them stretch more during the stretch phase.

It almost works too well sometimes.
