After reading up on Boveda affecting the smell of buds long term I have noticed this personally. I cut a plant a couple weeks ago and over dried it a touch (~53RH). Yield was about 6 ounces. So I put my wireless hygrometer in a bucket with the weed on top, and placed TWO large 67 gram Integra BOOST 62 packs on top of it. Its been like 4 or 5 days and im still only at 57%. Ive been through the same thing in the past and when I used two big Boveda packs, it brought the humidity up to 62 in a matter of a day or two. Its not really a big deal I'm just wondering why its taking sooo much longer. I dont have an issue with the Integra packs taking so much longer, It just seems like at that rate, how much affect are they really having?

These are the physical differences Ive noticed with the packs- Boveda packs feel like they are filled with water until they are almost completely dry and the material the pack is made of is very strong. Integra packs feel like they are filled with something that has the consistency of jello and the material the packs are made of is very flimsy and tears very easily. These are substantial differences between the two brands. The durability of the Integras is disappointing but as long as I'm careful with them they will last forever.

Just an example- If I had a half gallon jar with just one small pack in it and i opened it every day to get some out, i feel like the humidity would never be at that ideal 62%.

I rarely open jars.... when i do i take out a bunch and grind it all at once so its all prepped for me. But i could see the average person tossing a small pack in their jar and getting really pissed that it never gets to 62%. Also, being a 2-way pack, say your product was at 65% and you toss a pack in, how long will it take to get it down to 62%? Bovedas have incredibly accurate and powerful control of RH both ways but if the Integra packs keep the smell good for 2 years +, they win overall no question about it.

As for the deathmatch showdown; I plan to split a one ounce sample into two jars, one with a big boveda pack, one with a big integra pack; then let them sit for 6-12 months, smell them, sample each one, make comparison notes, and store for another 6-12 months, and repeat until i get a definite answer to this.

Just looking for your thoughts and experiences.

.

My Cvaults each came with a Bodeva so I had no decision to make.

The Bodevas work great but I haven't had a fragrant strain to judge any door stealing.

I bought an Integra off Amazon but haven't tried it yet.

I just double checked to make sure it wasnt just my hygrometer thats off. Put it in a bag with a boveda 62 and it was reading 62% in a half hour. So the Integra packs are definitely way slower at releasing moisture.

Have a friend that switched to integra after loosing a crop to the other, took all the smell out like you heard.. I don’t use any, I don’t like how they make my weed smoke. Everything worked fine all those years before this stuff, I still enjoy that way myself. Not sure if still, but awhile ago you could goto there site and request a free sample, it came months later.

Humidity in my house is usually 30-40%. To dry for weed. I like a slow burn.

Popcorn fart dry weed burns slow if it’s terpy, but my preference is because the way it tastes with them as well. I have 2 jars here of shitty weed, about 6 months old, one had a bov pack, one without, one with got tossed to the hash bin as I didn’t think it could get any worse, it did lol, but it was moister.. We are only 2-3 months a year with rh above 40 here.

I dont think the boveda hurts the taste/smoke. Just takes away the smell.

Possibly, you know when smoke is moister and kinda makes it hotter in the mouth? That’s a deal breaker and I find these packs cause it, more so then just wet weed. I have some and still try them off and on, maybe I just like dry weed. The smell was different between the 2 jars, both shitty because it was shitty to start with haha.

I've never lost smell off boveda. I make sure buds are sweated and already at 62
Buddy could of fucked his dry/cure im not sure, I had some before vac storage with packs and it was nice, I confirmed it did lose some upon reopening at a later time. Never had problems before, still switched it to integra after digging around and seeing more reports. Never heard anything since but didn’t ask either.

I think it's just from adding moisture because if I dry too far and add too much back it will kill some of the smell. Integra seem to be more slow release so maybe that helps too

That makes sense, very well could of been the case.

Never had a problem with Boveda. I can open jars that are 6 to 12 months old with no real lose of smell.
Don't understand the hate they get to be honest

I use the 62s to store and then into a 58 before i smoke.

Have noticed that people don't seem to take any notice of the recommended pack size for weight and some try to use them for curing. Which u may be able to (they do advertise that they work for this) but they are for long term storage not curing IMO.

I think people did it better before humidity packs and to those people you and these packs must look stupid.

I'd give that as a number one reason, is it really that hard to guess why.

I had to select... what is a humidity pack? Because their was no option for "neither" as I have never understood the need for them. I have some weed in jars that have been in there for nearly 3 years and the RH is still at where I set em when I stored them! Seriously, why? Yeah, I get that traditional cigar humidors breathe, so that's why they were made, but jars don't, so it makes no sense to me!

There is a difference between Boveda and Integra. Boveda are salt based while Integra is not. If you are doing this to raise your moisture then your wasting your money. Just cut up a piece of the stem or some fresh leaves and they do the same thing.
