Anyone else notice Autoflowers seem to be leafy as hell?

Ive grown a good hand full of strains. Started with autos and have moved on to my first photo run. Is it just me or do autos generally have a much higher leaf to bud ratio? When I open threads with pictures, I can usually tell if its an auto or photo just by how many leaves are sticking out of the buds. Its like autos keep pushing out leaves the first half of flower where photos go from strictly veg to strictly flower. Autos seem great on paper. But man when youve actually grown both, its hard to understand why anyone grows autos.... Other than the propaganda that they are "for beginners" and "finish way faster". Seed to bud in 55 days bro. Yeah ok let me know how that smokes for ya.

No I've not noticed even side by side the same strains. Autos lie, some banks put correct times and no quicker than 12 weeks 80/85 days. I think Dutch Passion had a good write up last time I was there about it.

I read a little about this. From the small amount of research I did it’s more about strains with high calyx to leaf ratio.

Man.... I must have grown all the wrong auto strains and all the right photo strains. I really do think the ruderalis has something to do with it.

Maybe being a better grower and I’m sure the autos had something to do with it. Seemed like strain was a big factor though

I guess with photos its like.... you grow them out, train them, then flower and the buds seem to form like a golf ball here golf ball there, spaced out. Larger node spacing and tighter, denser flowers. Autos are either stacked kolas or bottom bullshit and the buds are almost always fluffy. Maybe i just got on the right track with my current strain selection to get that "leafless golf balls everywhere" structure.

I think you’ve learned from previous grows and are a better grower. Take that with the switch to photos and hopefully it equals fire.
I just flipped on the 31st so I’m behind you a little

I know you’re organic did you get your soil figured out?
I should have added perlite.... I used to mix 50/50 hot heavy peat soil to cool light coco soil and it drained really well. Doing photos i wasnt scurrd of burning them so i went all hot peat soil and it doesnt drain for fuck all. They took to the first up potting great but after that it was downhill. I was watering to much and i knew it but i kept doing it anyway because what decent size plant in 3 gallons of dirt only needs water once a week. Im still finishing up flowering. I only cut one that had a bad hermie spot (partially if not all my fault) now that ive realized the error of my ways, they are finishing up nicely. Im also going to go back to fabric pots.

I was going to make my own soil but the worm bin etc just seemed like too much work. At least you know what to do next grow

Oh theres gonna be some fire.

Far to much work. The cost of an eighth at the store is more than the dirt to fill my 5x5 tent for a grow.

This one is in a 1 gallon so it got a more correct amount of water its whole life. Looking real good. Its been at 12/12 from seed though so it has more of that "autoflower structure" that i despise so much.

This girl is my champion fighter though. Doesnt look like much with all those dead leaves but shes got the sauce. and that golf ball golf ball golf ball structure.

Autos are fast and yield well. These days they have nice terps and potency as well, at least the Mephistos I've grown did.
