Interested for those that built their ebikes. Did you build the battery as well? Been working on one but the strips always spot weld to the elecreodes better than the battery, any tips?
I mostly do long distance bike packing/mountainbiking. Here's my bike and general setup.

So far I've done about a 4500km path from nyc up the east coast to ottawa and out west through wisconsin and illinois. When I get another month off I want to hit cali from chicago.

Righteous! That is what I want to be able to eventually do with the fat tire bike I have coming tomorrow. Adding a 1000 watt bafang BBSHD mid drive motor with 160nm of torque in the coming months!
I didn't build the battery I currently have, so I don't have any tips to getting the nickle to weld to the battery instead of the electrodes. Firm pressure, a spot welder specifically for batteries? What thickness of nickle strip? It has to be thin enough for the welder to handle it, or the welder needs to be powerful enough to weld the thicker nickle strip. I think the nickle plated steel has a little more give, you can get thicker strips to weld with less power.
What size battery you making? What kinda cells? Voltage? BMS or balance charger?

Really depends on the amount of wattage I'm drawing at the time. This mid drive is the the ideal type of motor for an electric mountain bike. It runs through the gearing. If I just need an extra little boost up some hills, I'm sure I'll be fine.
I've taken my direct drive HUB motor, the WORST one for hills, up a 5 mile long constant incline MULTIPLE times. It gets warm, but it makes it. So I am fairly confident in my ability to work with the motor to climb hills. It's rare to have more than a couple miles of constant incline on most mountain bike trails

Here's my banger, I'll be honest I didn't ride her for 6 months lol. I just got back on the old girl about 3 weeks ago, I'll get a new rig once I start pushing out the mile's. I'll be swapping the pedals before the next ride, I'll go back to the ones in my hands in the second pic. Found a bike light looking for the pedals to bonus

it’s been odd watching him go from obscurity to YouTube millionaire in just a few years. I like Phil Kmetz too. His channel isn’t as entertaining as Seth’s but I learned how to manual a hardtail by watching his videos. Before that I could barely get the front wheel off the ground.
Nice bike! I never would have guessed you’re a cyclist and a roadie no less. I bet drafting behind you would be a cakewalk.
I still have nightmares about using clipless pedals. Never again!

I used to ride velodrome until I was 17. My Grandfather was president of the local bike club, so me and my cousin's didnt get a choice lol. I love scratch races though something about the chase and stalking.
