Fake or cheap genuine QB?

As the title suggests, is this a fake or a cheap sale price genuine V2 288 QB with genuine Samsung LM301B diodes?

It's under £30 and go for roughly twice the price so what do you LED heads think of this.

I want a little veg light for young seedlings, this would do me but is it the real thing?

120W for $40. Not bad. I guess the real question is the longevity of use.

How can you tell to say "obviously". Is there a tell tale sign?

I do know that the measurements and backing of the Samsung chips are unique and the sellers here do observe this but what exactly is the real way to tell if its a fake?

If it is fake, what chips are they and what difference is there compared to Samsung chips?

Is the difference Samsung vs Epistar or suchlike?

I might give it a go because I just need a seedling/early veg light as I have a few spare drivers hanging about.

High failure rate? Just yesterday I seen HLG boards that were fucked. I haven’t seen a Alibaba board with issues in quite some time.

Cool, I don't mess with them because if I do have a problem they aren't gonna stand behind their products and I will probably have to return ship it to china and wait forever. I just bone up for something I can count on from that respect as well as reliability.

The other difference is that the H version are specifically made for horticulture - might be why they use 'H' as the model but that's just a guess - and they have a very thin, I think 70 micron, film of a clear plastic sprayed over the diode to protect it from moisture and splashes of liquid.

Yeah, and Toyota is the only company who makes Prius. Other companies also make hybrid vehicles, but they go by different names. Toyota is still the king in that realm, just like HLG is in the LED circuit board realm. HLG chooses to call their boards "quantum boards" (trademarked name), anyone else calling their boards that is like Kia trying to call their hybrid vehicles Prius.

No argument there. Was just answering the question from @Brettman of what makes a real quantum board, and gave a link so he could read for himself.

I don’t doubt HLG is better or built better, doesn’t change the answer. A Kia hybrid is no less real than a Toyota hybrid, though it may have not be the first or best.

I would think the folks that have DIY quantum boards that are better or worse than HLGs fell there’s are very real.

If the OP buys that board they'll need a driver and plug for the AC side. Wire and connectors for the DC side as well. They'll also want to use a heatsink if they intend to power the board over 40-50 watts.

So cost wise another $50 to $80 unless the OP already has some supplies in hand.

Hey @KK26 , how much space do you have for young plants that you want to illuminate?

I think you're missing the point. A "Quantum Board" doesn't mean anything in the English language prior to less than 10-years ago. HLG made up the name for their LED printed circuit boards, and trademarked the name. Anyone else who wants to also make a similar (most are straight copies) soft of LED printed circuit board should at least call it what it is, instead of using the meaningless product name that HLG invented. Do you think that Kimberly-Clark would not sue the ass off of any company who tried to use their trademarked name "Kleenex" to describe their off-brand facial tissue? Why should the same etiquette apply to HLG's QB's?

Im not trying to argue with anyone over their opinions. Dude asked what makes a real quantum board and I answered with a non-opinionated, factual answer with a link for him to read and gather his own info. Not my opinion on a light brand. I’m glad you like yours, could are less. Fact is my post was accurate.

HLG was just quicker to the trademark office.

When you have a runny nose you ask the person next to you for a kleenex ....not the puffs plus that they happen to have.

Kia can make their own hybrids, but they can't call it a Prius. Well maybe if they were built in China, lol.

If you have a runny nose just ask for a tissue. Then someone can give you a Kleenex, or a generic brand tissue.
