American Wildfires

From what I’ve read there is no one purposely setting any fires and the reports if it happening are all fake news bullshit :(.
4 people have been arrested, suspected of arson in connection with the fires in Oregon, Washington and California

California-- Anita Esquivel arrested for allegedly intentionally setting fires along US 101
Oregon--Michael Jarrod Bakkela, the fire Bakkela allegedly set is 1 of 2 sources for the Almeda Fire
Washington--authorities arrested two unrelated suspects for setting 2 small fires in the brush. No names were listed.

My go bag has been packed since Nov 8 2018
I have to ask, what happened on that date?

A couple more people I really hope that the FBI is investigating all of their web traffic to find out if they are more online radicalized domestic terrorists.

You can check your air quality at this site:

The air quality where I'm at is AQI 671, Awful!

Yes me too. These people are using fire to help destroy our country. In the satellite images of the fires up and down the west coast it looks like a pattern of terrorism. Like they are set almost at equal distance apart.

I stand corrected but I should have clarified I was talking about far left antagonist. Were these people setting them far left antifa? Seems their all out setting fires and looting :o! I guess the Mexicans will be next :(.

So what is in the works to stop this from happening every fucking year.
A good surveillance system, bring in the military to guard and protect the area during the most dangerous times of the year, start spraying retardant gels and installing possible fire shelters in all newly built structures?

Plant a redwood tree everywhere there is a empty spot with a nice little plant guild around it to feed it's roots and let nature take back over the areas. Train the trees to hold mini satellite/camera systems and put all the power lines underground.

We have very strict building codes for new construction here in the North State if you are in an area that is considered prone to fires. The WUI, wildland–urban interface.
I read a statistic somewhere that roughly 50% of the newest homes that were built with these updated codes survived the Camp Fire. There wasn’t many of these “Newer” homes up there.

as far as what needs to be done, i think ALLOT of different things need to be done. For the future and to help prevent these things from happening, or happening as often, would be reducing our greenhouse gas output.

The clearing of brush and dead fuel from these increasingly long droughts need to be addressed. Hardly an easy thing to do. A larger investment from the fed to fight these fires. Shit, most of them start on Federal land. I could go on and on.

i don’t know what the hell we can do about the fires like down in Santa Rosa, The Tubbs fire, though. I just know there isn’t a silver bullet for any of this. It’s not looking good.

That’s insane! Redwood trees can’t grow in those areas it’s too hot for Regrowing . These are desert like conditions now and it’s only going to get hotter and hotter every year .
if you look at a satellite image of the west coast where all the fires are taking place and Look to the East, the East is all desert with no green. That is what is moving in towards the West Coast. Replant the area with desert shrubs.

It’s so sad. I am going outside now to check the air quality. I saw a low pressure sweeping down the west coast u turning in Mexico headed straight for me, all the way in Oklahoma. Take care And good luck!

I am curious about the 'clearing brush' thing. Im over in Michigan and i could see how it would be possible for different environments changing things, but here fallen trees and stuff actually retain moisture far more than exposed ground. In mature forests the floor would be littered with it, so I am just curious if that is not the case out there.

We got to start somewhere.

Im not sure where all the Redwood trees that were chopped down in the 1800's were, I have been trying to find a good map of what it would have looked like back then, but not really sure where to look. Wherever those forests were we should be trying to replant as fast as we can, same everywhere we can. Redwood trees being fireproof is why I am pointing to them specifically, but whatever naturally grows in the area.

Here there is no moisture to retain. It doesn’t rain here now until november. From Sep-November(make that August-Nov now)t’s super super dry, very low humidity from the increasingly stronger winds. This will describe it better than I can.

I’m no expert but one issue is yes the build up of dead material that has not been burnt and builds to creat extremely hot fires. Quick response and aerial bombing can help but due to the extreme drought and heat it’s the perfect storm for fires everywhere :( hopefully the damage to life can be mitigated but it’s fucked up. My kid is bracing for a prolonged cat 2 hurricane due to hit tonight :(.

Much of this is due to bad forest practices that went on for decades. We used to have diverse forests and old growth. When a fire went through it would clean out the underbrush but the trees would survive. After they clear cut the old growth they replanted mainly Douglas fir as it was a money crop for the timber companies and they planted them too close only thinking about future harvests and not the health of the forest. There is no diversity in many of the forests and also many of the forests are diseased and infested with pests that attack trees that are already weakened by drought conditions and Douglas Fir does not tolerate the extreme drought conditions like we've been having.

These are not natural forests. Those were cut down a long time ago. These are basically man made tree farms. And we all know that when it comes to nature man does more harm than good.

It’s hard to believe anyone could deny that human activity causes climate change.

We are approaching the tipping point and I believe 4 more years of trump will put us past the point of no return. This election is not only important for Americans, it’s equally important for humanity and the planet.

Please vote for Biden. I want my 12 year old daughter to be able to go outside when she’s 40.

I'm hearing up to 12+ inches of rain in some places.

As bad as the fires are out here in the west we must also remember that there is a slew of bad weather headed for the eastern United States and the Gulf states. This could be a very bad hurricane season and people across the country are going to lose lives and property.

Regardless of where you live stay safe. This is going to be one crappy year for so many.
