Relaxation would be the reward of your patience. I wish I had a house with some land to do this. A fruit tree or something useful
You can relax anywhere. I have an awesome zero gravity chair that i relax in sometimes. The true reward would be that you worked on something your entire life so you could have a one of a kind piece of living, functional art. I feel like there are types of trees or bushes or whatever that you could do this with and it would only take a decade or two to accomplish.

LOL, it was dumb!

Just didn’t work. The side branches started becoming the main branches while other side branches were smushed while I turned the pot.

Meanwhile some kind of genetic impulse made the stem keep growing longer, so even while I was twisting, it only affected the growing tip.

In other words: Does not work for training, don’t waste your time!

Never mind. I just figured out how to get mine to grow upside down. I can also defy the laws of gravity now.

LOL, now I get it. Yeah, not sure why the site loaded the pics sideways. How do I change that? They looked normal on my phone.

I think it does that automatically with vertical photos. Not sure how to change that without having to rotate my own pics on my phone, not even sure if that would work.

That's neat. I grew 2 SOG KUSH sideways in 32"x 20" dresser drawer. Fun but really cramped. Haven't played with bonsai since this Asain wild mountain rose from scratch. Failed so miserably I haven't been back. Wrong plant for anything over 55 F. But you can manipulate a plant to do and grow almost anywhere. To grow a spiral you need a means of automatically rotating the plant back and forth while controlling the speed and degrees of travel. Good luck. 002.jpg004.jpg

Another problem is now that I’ve stood the pots upright, there is a layer of separation between the pot and the soil — like a gap created from compression. The water flows straight into the gap and out of the pot. I will need to fill it in with soil, press it in there somehow.

Assuming it is small enough to handle. Just let it dry a bit. Compress the sides of the pot all the around until it fills the gap for you. Throw soil ontop to meet your desire. Peace.
