After having been fighting the worst PM I have ever seen this year. I have learned that our typical sprayers and foggers don't atomize or cover for crap. And even worse on large crowded plants. Tried my Graco airless paint pump with a 0.315 tip on lowest pressure setting. A-F'n-mazing coverage with 2/3rds less solution. Complete bottom to top coverage and a dense fog if I spray in the air just above the plants. I am now finally winning the battle. Using this requires a full face respirator and head to toe covering. I'm convinced it changed my treatments effectiveness. Coverage is the key people.
Yeah I think Im going to invest in one of the atomizing fogger sprayers next year... I really like the hudson ones on amazon theyre sub $300 I think and seem to work great.

They also have some cheaper ones that I see on aliexpress and alibaba for about 70-100 bucks but I havent taken a chance with one yet. I do go through so much solution trying to get the finest mist I can with the tip of my sprayer, as well and spraying into the wind of the leafblower and fans or even just straight in the air trying to get the droplets to break apart in the air and float back down. Hadnt really thought of a paint air sprayer gun and compressor though... That may actually be cheaper especially if I can fit one of the atomizing nozzle tips on the paint gun... Thanks for the tip.

Having painted for over 30 years I believe a cheap cup gun and a small compressor with a regulator would be perfect for a few large plants or a bunch mid sized.

I have a Hudson. Can't get under the plant to spray the undersides. Reliable and works well beyond that. Kinda self defeating designs.

Since I enjoyed last years outdoor grow Thread, following my fellow massholes, I decided to start this years. Last year was my first real outdoor grow and I enjoyed it more than I ever did 10 years of indoor. I had a great harvest and will have enough to supply me thru next harvest season.

I decided the best way to spend my “quarantine” was to start prepping my garden. It’s about 6 weeksish till I want to plant my seeds, so today I cleaned out old litter and debis that gathered over the winter. I already picked up most of the supplies I’ll need to refresh the soil. Just waiting on a delivery of Organic compost to get here. I’ll need about a yard of it for my 10x10 bed. I figure I can mix it all up now and add it as a topsoil, cover it up and let it sit for 4-6 weeks. Worked great last year.

still haven’t decided on strains yet but I think I’m gonna try autos early spring this year and plant some reg photo plants in July. That’s when I planted last year and they got bigger than I needed anyway. Anybody with experience with autos around here outdoors?

So let’s hear what your plans are for this year! Great time to be stuck at home. Take extra care of your gardens! Hard work now will reward you later. Happy growing!
Rehoboth Ma. I was doing a section 8 bro

Thanks yeah that pretty much settles it for me then, your experience from 30 years of painting, and then owning a hudson on top of that...

I've been looking for a reason to buy a compressor anyways... definitely going to grab a cheap harbor frieght cup spray gun or something to go with it for next years outdoors. Do you have any recommendations on what the best nozzle tip to atomize h202 and/or thicker stuff like B.t. concentrate in water?

Thanks :joint: :peace:

Steep banana peels in water for a couple days. That will get you some good P for free. Use it on orchids. Girls get tailor made. Sprinkle some used coffe grounds on soil to lower soil Ph. Nature provides all you need if you just take the time to learn. Good luck.

A cup gun is a variable dia opening by means of a rear thumb screw adjusting the needle draw. Another one for air pressure pattern width adjustment. Fully adjustable to suit needs. Do not over pressurize the cup gun. Have witnessed them explode. Dangerous and messy. Always turn your regulator to 0 PSI before attatching gun. Read and understand all safety info included with gun. Please be safe. Dangerous tools and forces involved.

Ive read any type of milk would work but I would assume like an organic raw milk would be best as I think you're after the bacteria in milk (possibly the ph being left on leaf surface as well? I cant recall right now)

The way I see it, peroxides cheaper than milk (might be harder to find in stores right now, I had to order it on amazon) and if they both accomplish the same thing, Im all about saving money.

With that said, Ive used skim and whole milk from the fridge that had just gone bad, and used it to make a 4:1 IIRC spray mix to use on the plants in the yard surrounding the crop. Only used the spray on my plants once and cant say for sure if it worked well or not as I used peroxide shortly after.

OK, I have read it is not the bacteria, but the proteins that do the work, as they break down they attack the powdery mildew. Now Im seeing 10-1, 6-4,, also this Combine one tablespoon baking soda and one-half teaspoon of liquid, non-detergent soap with one gallon of water, and spray the mixture liberally on the plants. Mouthwash. The mouthwash you may use on a daily basis for killing the germs in your mouth can also be effective at killing powdery mildew spores.

Most experts advise using a mixture with a 40/60 ratio of milk to water.

More than 50 years ago, researchers in Canada discovered that milk sprays could help prevent powdery mildew on tomato and barley. ... Scientists are not exactly sure how milk sprays work, but most think proteins in the milk interact with sun to create a brief antiseptic effect.

Found this interesting tid bit...

So heres some pics, in my 'Twin Towers' you can see the difference between my Indica and Sativa growth. Indicas are a bit ahead, and you can see the diff in the buds as well. Twin towers Green Crack is my Sativa, I believe. Purple Haze, blah, blah. I seen and wanna grow some Wedding Cake but dont know if this zone can take it.AAADSCN2009.jpgAAbDSCN2002.jpg
adDSCN2011.jpgaeDSCN2015.jpgafDSCN2016.jpgagDSCN2004.jpg

Second pic is the Twin towers, Indica on the right, first pic, Purple Haze, Fat colas are tripping me out cuz I know that they are the first to catch rot from the inside, so Im checking multiple x a day. As good as it looks, you can still see they all have weeks to go. We hit this warm spell and could be looking at the promised land.

Beautiful dogs my friend, nugs looking good, Im worried thats a bunch of WPM on the plants in picture number 2 though? Can you confirm? Dont want to see you get sick trying to smoke anything that may be harmful. If it is wpm, it looks to be quite a bit of it. spraying thoroughly with 3% hydrogen peroxide will knock it down if you havent already taken care of it (if it actually is wpm)
Good eye my friend, I didnt catch it until I closed upped the pic, then I was like 'whoa' yeah @ottovonschnitzel - need to spray that with either peroxode or milk, and fast. Looks like its limited to that one plant, but will spread fast. Dont risk cutting or pulling the leaves, those spores will spread all over your grow, it pretty advanced....

Not sure what’s going on, my plants seem to have completed stopped growing. All the buds look like there still in week 3 of flower, just a ball of pistols. I haven’t seen any significant growth in a couple weeks. They look 100% healthy otherwise, not a deficiency in sight and great color and vigor. Just extremely slow growth. Not like it’s been insanely cold either I don’t get it
I would double check the stems to make sure you don't have any borer holes. I had them bad on one plant last season and it basically stopped growing after the first week of September.
