I'm looking for something suitable to veg 4/8 plants in a 3.3x3.3ft, I'm not looking to spend a lot of money if I can't get something for £30\40 I'll get by with my hid but the low wattage is certainly appealing?
Anything worthwhile, are fans necessary?
Is there much heat generated with them.
Thanks in advance.

I recommend you start here, and avoid blurples.

Personally? I would stick with what you have if it's working until you can save up a little more. The cheapest I'd look for a 3x3 is the Mars Hydro TS1000 or the Spider Farmer SF-1000. @PadawanWarrior there will recommend the HLG equivalent..... they are definitely better but for a premium $.

Basically all 3 will run at least $150 though.

As far as your first questions, they will definitely produce less heat than basically any other light for the equivalent wattage/power. I definitely recommend still having fans to circulate air in the tent and an exhaust fan to keep cycling in fresh air. If you have something with variable power you will definitely be able to turn it way down. I run my fans at ~40% power.

That's right. I would recommend spending the extra $17 on the genuine HLG shit. If you want the single board here ya go.

The only thing that sucks is if it's for vegging a 3x3 the bspec is superior...and out of stock
He doesn't have the money for separate veg and bloom lights, or even decent LED for his area.

Stick with HID and save your money for quality LED.

Do you already have a flowering setup and you're just working on a dedicated veg space?

Literally first sentence "I'm looking for something suitable to veg 4/8 plants in a 3.3x3.3ft"
Actually it was all one run on sentence if you want to get technical.

Let me remind you.

Can't flower a 3x3 with and sf1000. Maybe sf2000 but it's out of budget. Why not a bunch of cfl's different kelvins? It's cheap as shit.. but he will be able to grow For now.. by the time flowering time comes.. he will have a bloom light.. or a full spectrum beast.

I should have been clearer, I've all the necessary lighting as in cfl/T5s and mh, my problem is running the mh for 18hrs along with a 600/1000w flowering tent, I'm getting humped for electricity at 18p per unit, I can barely afford to run my flowering tent as it is.

Just by chance I seen the led on ebay, the prices are appearing and so is the running cost.

I've got a sj clone bunker with T5s it's basically just to start plants then I move them into my big tent.
If I could have got a 2/4k led I'd set up my 3x3 tent so I could rotate crops.

Has anyone had bad results with them?
In fishing and in hifi people convince themselves that budget = crap which certainly is not the case, I'm prepared to burn £40 to try them, unless of coarse they are categorically crap tried and tested not judged by the price.

I'm seeing a 3/4000w unit with a 1 year gtee, built in fans and returnable, can it really be that bad?

Quality LED's don't use fans.
