How tf do you prevent root rot!!!!!!!!!!!

im getting soooooo fuckin pissed. There is never a good answer on any of these forums. Just a hole bunch of conflicting answers! There seems to be almost no way possible to water my plants and they don't get root rot. Once they get it, there dead as well, there is no saving them. My soil doesn't even look soaked. When I stick my hand way down, you can feel coolness, but nothing majorily wet. I don't even see how this crap grows outside, and how others do it. I guess I will keep trying, and keep killing until I get it. Way to much money invested now to quit. Im going to add perlite to my mix next time, as well as use happy frog instead of OF. This last grow was bad. My first grow, I had all for seedlings sprout, all live for a couple day to a week. I was giving them prob 3 cups of water a day!!!! Now this time around I used way less water, and had problems with some of them sprouting, the ones that did died quick. Only one lasted for 4 days. I reused old soil last time which may have been the reason I had some many issues. Idk why I had better results the first compared to this time, like I said I am using less water and still getting the same results. Nobody on here can give you a safe guess on how much water to give your plant, and for how long. Just check the soil they say, it always feels dry, they say check the pot, you can barely feel a weight difference. I just don't fuckin know how to do this. I either plant seed to deep, dont plant deep enough, underwater the seed when it hasnt popped out of the soil yet, or give it root rot.

Have you tried growing in coco yet? It drains much faster and will reduce your chances in getting root rot. You can also find moisture meters pretty cheap on Amazon that can help you gauge the moisture levels in your soil.

Perlite is your friend. Give it 25 to 30% perlite in the mix next time. This will ensure you always have O2 for the roots and should really help. Good luck.

I had that same problem. Then I got a clone from a buddy... put it in dwc and it took off!

The moisture meeters are so fucking retarded. Nobody can say which water meter is good, nobody. Just like everything else with growing, a few says it works, then others say it doesn't. I bought a water meter, and it didn't work.

Ya, idk. Everybody onle who says they over watered, you can see it in the fucking soil. Its soaked!!! With mind its still powdery? Like wtf.

Yea is pretty fast. You need to be observant when you're thinking it's time for watering. First sign of wilting... water her. The dry cycle is just as important as the wet cycle.

This is the driest root rot soil I ever saw. Next time I guess I'm going to switch to mabe misting the soip twice a day until the seedling sprouts, then move to watering one cup every 3 days. Giving a 2.5 gallon pot a half a shot glass a day is what killed it

Just because the outside is dry doesn't mean it's dry at the roots. Roots breathe oxygen. Try breathing through a soaking wet cloth. That's prolly about equivalent for wet media at the roots. I know it seems complicated but once you know the signs it becomes easier.

You need to start your seedlings in tiny cups
Paper cups then you can get the babies to a strong seedling and monitor moisture in the tiny cups
The rest is easy once you get a good start

I wouldn't say they don't work necessarily. They work to a point to give you an estimation. It's not fool proof. You still need to learn and know the signs which only come with experience. Some guys nail it right off the bat. I dunno how. Others like me have to learn the hard and expensive way through trial and error. Just how it is.

I think when I med previous soil that had root rot with soil that didn't have root rot, i think it greatly increased the chance of root rot as well. I just hate how nobody could give you pointers as well. Like for example I spent all day looking at good soil for autoflowers to see if happy frog with perlite would help. He is my results: I love happy frog its the best, I hate happy frog it causes root burn, happy frog is not ph balanced, happy frog needs an equal mix of happy frog and ocean forest, just add perlite, i add coco, i add perlite and coco. Like come on this doesnt help when one person says something works out great, and the other says it crap. All I know, is I need to get more air to this soil! I need to find a watering schedule that works as well. Last time i used one cup of water, and waited three days, and my roots dried up . I seriously am trying everything.

All they are saying is treat em with kid gloves till they are in their final pot
I have transplanted them without issue

If you can get some merit that shit cleans roots hard to get but works also have you been using big time enzyme that also helps huge.
