You aren't dealing with "root rot"
You are needing to keep it wet early on and that perlite is a little less than i prefer
From what i am hearing you just haven't learned good watering practices
Root rot is a much different thing

that's how it is right now. My first grow wasn't bad, it wasn't a big yield at all, by i managed to break even. This grow im in the negative quite a bit after one month of lights and nothing to show, 80 some waisted on seeds, 200 for tent, 230 for new lights, and 40 some for soil and perlite

no shit, probkems to early always seem to be a high chance of death i was thinking about coco, i just was scared because idk if I would have under watered.

Grab a cheap soil meter I have one just cuz I like to buy gadgets but it seems to work stick it in all places of pot and see what it's looking like

It depends on how they are doing
Initially i fill the cups half full
then when the stem starts to stretch toward the light i add more soil
Once the leaves are developed enough the stretching subsides and you can transplant

I hear your frustration. I was where your at too. Still kind of am. I got one plant not drinking as fast so I need to give each plant their own watering schedule instead of all the same amount at the same time. I keep a couple moms in soil but I veg and flower in dwc. People say dwc is hard but ime I believe it's easier. As long as you got air pumps running and/or fluming, waterfalling, roots get plenty of air. Plus you can see the roots do its easier to diagnose what's going on. Not to mention all the other benefits of hydroponics. Lol

Is there a way to test the amount of water leaving the soil? Could I take a small empty pot, get its weight when its dry, give it water, get its weight when when, then weigh it every day to get a percentage for water leaving the soil

you could try that. I'm not sure how effective it would be but I've never tried it. It's possible you could make that work for you.

Would a whicking system be good? I just thought mabe I could fill a bottle of water, stuff a torn piece of shirt to clog the bottle hole. Squeeze a little so the water quickly runs through the shirt, then stick it in the ground? I'm trying this out right now in just plain soil with no seed.

I'll give you the best advice. Buy sunshine mix4 or pro mix white bale. No need to mix anything. Not sure why you use sad frog soil for. Buy a air stone, air pump, hose. These are cheap. Put the air stone in water and let it bubble out the water. Use that water to water your plants. You do not need to add any type of food yet. Once you see the 5th node. Get hygrozyme. You will need this, your base nutes, beneficial microbes, AN bud candy or a alternative if you hate AN and cal mag and fulvic acid. Before you put your nutes in check the PPM its low you are good to go. If high well you need a filter. When I say low I mean sub 200 ppm. Your PH should be around 6 range. 5.8 - 6.6 is fine. Don't listen to people who say oh your bud will have a Chem taste. Trim your bud and cure it properly to break down the chrolyophil. This is what makes that harsh Chem taste. Even "organic" weed is the samething.


Also you will never ever have root problems ever again if you follow this. As for your plants right now that have root rot pull it out of the pot and cut off the rotted area and repot them. When you are watering let's say off a 5g pot put 1gal of water. Once you get comfortable and start understanding your plant start putting more until you know the exact amount. A lot of the information is out there to do things. But the right and proper information is hard to find. Anyways good luck on your grow and post some pics
