Well if you're talking about Mars, here's one dissatisfied customer. He's pretty cool about it though, and doesn't mind getting a little shock. I think he finds it exciting playing with electricity. Ya, I'm talking about you @m99smith, lol.

Knew you ment me instantly :) yeah mars sucks because they give off shocks but other then that they are decent lights. Also I'm surprised my thread about them didn't turn into a massive shit show like most threads do.

Anyone ever messed around with any of these? thinking 2 of these would do good for me. by the looks it says case of 2. i think that means 2 lamp fixtures if i am correct anyone confirm? also it says lamps sold separately. does that mean the bulbs are sold separate or what? i am confused. if i am correct and it is bulbs sold separate then how much would those runs me? what ones would i want 3100k? please help. 1601060145173.png

Nanolux has a high rate of ballast failures.

Grab these. You need two bulbs per light.

Man ... if you hve never been to china and browsed their mfg facilities seriously just chime out.

the "retro philips " aparently was a cmh bulb that worked in hps ballast!
There would be high enough demand to find a vendor to mfg that...

Just saying . Go there , browse the mfg companies . It takes months to get
Through them all. This is not unsimiliar to one off parts for cars being made... idk how ur rolex has anything to do with that. Politics aside , thank capitalism for chinas mfg holding us hostage...

its basically impossible to find all american made shit these days so the " oh dont buy trash buy the expensive shit" argument isnt always true ...

u can find exact fucking led chips , exact same drivers . Fuck probably see asf logo that was forgotten to be removed from the housing...

research is what this thread is about.

idk if its turned into a budget bang for buck lighting search or what at this point?
Where are the op's anyway??

who here made a decision based off this thread?

or atleast learned something?

like the hlg thing never heard off . Thanks for pointing them out. Super reasonable prices for quantums...

and simce theyrequire assembly its easy to swap deivers or boards out as needed ..

so we got
Digital hid
Magnetic hid
DE HID DIG AND MAGNETIC
quantum boards
Cobs
And veros

Those seem to be the best options today.

cobs were the future till the efficiency of quantums was realized ...

to be frank use all together ffs

running mh and hps

or led and hps

offers benefits.

theres like a gazilion options out there..

i just want to keep reiterating, more is more.
Temps are important, and keep that lighting as evenly distributed as possible

arm your self with an ppfd or lux meter , an annometer and some really good thermometers plus an ir..

get the most light you possibly can is my logic

so what offers the most lumins per dollar .....

HID!!

KISS WHY EVERYONE OVERTHINK SHIT THESE DAYS??

Plan ur spaceoutby the lifhtingnu choose then go from yhere . Find out the kigjts footprint irl look up ppfd reviews if using led.... if ur flowerimgncut that footprint in half... i wouldnt use less than 50real w per sq ft of led ...

But i have not done anything besides veg with them so far so im no expert at all on led . Im glad there are plenty around here who are versed in it .

thats the point of this discussion...

Or i could go with 3 of them if that is needed? as long as i can run it in my outlets without problems.

2 should be fine for a 4x8. 3 of them is 1890w which isn’t safe to run on a standard 15A 120v breaker.

Also houses normally have each breaker ran to multiple outlets in the house so you want to make sure you don’t have any other power hungry devices plugged into outlets that are on the same breaker.

I do have a lot of stuff connected like 4 tvs, couple computers, Already a few lights, what would be considered to much. How would i know. If i cannot run those lights i need to know as that would suck to mess things up.

If you already have a hood heres a retro so you can run the new CMH 315W bulbs. These used to be close to $400 now $126

Not sure what you mean. I am new to this information. I have not bought any CMH lights before.

These units are for people that have been running MH and HPS light the sockets for the bulbs in these reflectors / hoods have mogul sockets for the bulbs. The kit has a ballast for a 315W CMH bulb and a socket converter for the new 2 prong CMH bulbs.
But since you don't have a hood and the the price of Prism fixture is the same as 2 of these kits you'd be better off with the single fixture.

I have a large 2' square hood over a 4' square grow, it has 3 bulbs in it (2 400W retro CMH and a 1000W HPS in the center) I have 3 of these kits to install once the retro bulbs I have all reach end of life, I know they are all well past their prime I just love how plants preform under them compared to the HPS. Much happier plants. But I have to admit the 1K has much better penetration.

More łike a step in the wrong direction. Keep following the sheep.
Easy with the assumptions and attitude, you're starting to show your age.
I realize the old fixtures are trash. If you've used the FC series then speak on it.. I haven't bought any Mars but the FC series is a step in the right direction for them. Not worth the money they are asking though. The diodes aren't top bin either.

Anyone had experience with Kingbrite or Meijiu which are cheap brands from alibaba. apparently they are compared to spiderfarmers? same diodes and drivers? what would be the point in getting more expensive spiderfarmers if they are the same basically?

I have two of the Kingbrite 240w 3500k double heatsink. I’d have a hard time justifying twice the price on a SF. They’re coming out of a factory in China too so what makes them worth double the price? Being able to call someone in located in the US just to get shitty customer service. I’ve seen plenty pictures of email responses customers have gotten back from them and it’s a joke.

Either fork up the cash for an HLG if you want a product made in the US and good customer service or go with Kingbrite/Meijiu if you want something cheap that still works good.
