That is negligible. So do you run CMH or LED? These are things I'm curious about when it comes to LED VS CMH. I'm looking for what works best ot worried about cost. But UT if it's negligible then I really don't see the reason in spending the extra cash on LED just to be the cool kid on the block. I want quality first then production then cost to own & use comes into play.

Please anyone feel like chiming in feel free. I've asked a lot different questions proba KY should of made new threads but trying to keep things in one area. Thanks for your time.
a CMH is 30% of input energy is converted to light. a 301 based LED will convert 40% of its input energy to light. just check the data sheets.do your research. ther are a lot of LED fundamentalist on this site making exagerated claims about lights and a lot of "bro science" on this site but a lot of good sciene online.for example they claim LEDs are full spectrum but the produce no UV and only a narrow band of blue. plants ca adapt to any kind of light but if you look at the absoption spectrum for plants grown in natural sunlight you will see what plants really like only CMH and horticultural T5s can come close to this1595713746898.png

I use T5s in a 2ft by 4ft tent adding 660nm and UV bulbs like these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GDBQM87/?coliid=I2WUY5TWO5Q9K3&colid=AW7UKM9ED6GM&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it with 6500k to get the SPD I want but I have grown wit HIDS and DIY LEDs using bridgelux eb strips (301 diodes) but prefer T5s in my tent. do your homework and use what work for you1595714974856.jpeg1595715020606.jpeg1595715090795.jpeg

.

Phishphan if I were just gearing up and I had $5K I would invest it in a 1000 watt Black Dog LED and buy one of their complete grow kits.

If you don't go the Black Dog route, it's not for everyone, take a look at their kits to see what you need.

Best of luck.

That is SOOOO OVER PRICED!!!!

Do NOT buy that kit. Black dog leds are waaaay over priced as well.

I have grown wit HIDS and DIY LEDs using bridgelux eb strips (301 diodes)
They're not the same diodes though. Bridgelux uses 3 volt .2 watt nominal diodes (that they class as low power diodes) with a 2835 footprint for their EB strips.

Samsung makes the LM301B/H and they are classed as mid power diodes. They are 3 volt .2 watt nominal diodes as well. They have a 3030 footprint and can handle more current than the Bridgelux diodes (up to 200mA maximum).

I second the Gavita. Might be a touch overpriced for what it is, but you know a company like Gavita is going to come through in the quality department. As for the tent.... any tent will do. I personally dont like the gorilla tents at all. 5 zippers to get the front doors open. I personally just ordered a "Covert" brand tent from hydrobuilder because its a few inches taller than any other tent on the market (other than the gorilla of course, but again, fuck those.)

Honestly you should be able to come in well under the 5k mark even if you are buying a window ac unit, dehumidifier, heater, etc etc etc.

This is the ph pen I got a few months back, i love it.

A touch. Lol there is lights a 3rd the price that would grow the exact same shit.

I'm not here to do kids research for them. 650 watts of anything for 2k-2100 is more then a touch over priced. Specially some Mexican made garbage. Then another couple hundred if you want to dim it which is almost on every single decent light now a days.

I wouldn't trust Mexicans with LED's because they don't have heavy export in technology like china if any noticeable. But China I'd trust them with the cheapest LED shouldn't be tough. Still LED's and cmh are for places if you don't have enough space. The LED is for the guy in Manhattan with his mini apartment but want fire weed.

Have you decided?

a new new grower and just bought all my gear. From my research and findings, If I could do it over again in your sitaution, for a 5x5 flower tent.

tent- gorilla (for the height)
Goliath I think might reach as high as well.

light- with my budget I went with the HLG 600 RSpec (my first choice was the 300l rspec but decided to get a bigger light for a few hundred more)

but after purchasing it I was still looking into lights. The other option would of been a cob light.

joining this forum and reading threads, Dan from timber reached out to me seeing I was asking someone else on more information about them.
He was able to break down the difference between the QB VS cob and what would best work in my space. 1 big light (redwood vs) vs 2 smaller ones (4vls)

I don’t have a perpetual setup, but when I do, I definately want these in my tent!

air-I went with 6” ac infinity with the digital controller.

medium- soil + dry mend. But if your going hydro thatll probably eat up most of your budget unless you diy it

with those 4 main things- I would say focus more on with what you can spend.
But I found what adds up the most is the small things...
Pots
Trays
Water cans
Buckets all that s***

Oh and then the seeds for me. I’m addicted to seed buying and I haven’t even had my first complete run yet.

One man team here- don’t really know anyone else, so no hook ups, clones, or bag seeds here

please share pics ofyour setup when done!:weed:

If you want to grow weed, just do strips, and control your canopy.

I can't see a reason to choose cobs over strips, unless you have 16 cobs in a 4*4
