MH vs HPS for flower

1000w DE CMH has just appeared and there’s bound to be plenty ballasts and bulbs coming.

Lumatek has the 1000w Utopia next year, 1000w CMH / HPS DE switchable ballast. Be a good option. Dimmable, HPS boost able to 1100w.

I imagine we will see more and more CMH in big grows going forward.

I use both MH and HPS for flower, 2 x 600 HPS and 1 x 400 MH between them.

I find it a very nice spectrum to work under and the plants seem to respond well to it.

There used to be a 600w old bulb I saw lots of discussion about in the UK,but it was nothing like the efficiency of these modern 315/630 now 1000w DE CMH. People would run those with MH ballasts. But I doubt the bulbs are even available now.

But no, CMH bulbs need their own type of ballast. This new Lumatek one with switchable between HPS / CMH is the first I have seen of switchability with CMH support.

I don't believe so. The standard wattages for MH/HPS are different from the standard wattages the CMH comes in.

I run 250w HPS/MH and my HPS/MH upgrade would be 400w. If I go to CMH, my upgrade watts would be 315w
