The current comet is ATLAS C/2020 M3. I think I saw it this am in the 10x70s just northwest of Orion’s top. Large, very low surface brightness; I saw no nucleus.I knew I saw this last night while I had the telescope out......first of all I was checking out orion......finally picked up a comet after changing the filter set....

Discovered last June, Comet C/2020 M3 (Atlas) is closest to Earth - millions of miles away - on Saturday, November 14, 2020. It's in an easy-to-find location, if you have a dark sky. Charts and photos here.earthsky.org

That's the one I've been chasing down here. Initially I was using a 36mm 2" eye piece and a neb filter to check out orion when I saw something just outa field of view.....I had to go to my charts to figure out what it was.....lol. After I switched over to a comet filter is when I really came out.....chased it last night as well, since orion for me come up after 9pm...The current comet is ATLAS C/2020 M3. I think I saw it this am in the 10x70s just northwest of Orion’s top. Large, very low surface brightness; I saw no nucleus.
