Royal dwarf auto

Hi,

I thought I’d post a pic of my seedling, she’s a Royal dwarf from royal queen seeds. How’s she looking for a 8 day old seedling?

She's so cute! They don't seem to grow a ton in their first 2 weeks or so.... but I'm also on my first grow so idk

Edit: So it’s currently day 12 for this seedling and it hasn’t really been growing, so I ordered a new cfl light with real 125 watts. It’s been under a 23 Watt cfl the whole time since sprout.

I also repotted the plant to a 2.1 gallon pot coming from the solo cup. Not to mention I diluted a tad bit of nitrogen with rain water, and gave the plant it’s first feeding.

You definetly want more light. The higher watt cfl bulb the better. Also look for cool temperature light. Above 3500K if possible.

I figure that’s the reason it won’t grow because of the low watts. Just gotta wait for my delivery then.

No more than its already been through.

With all due respect your being miss lead by those that said its normal for it to be where it was at 8 days old.

It's not optimal by any means, however doesn't mean it's not normal for the amount of light he is giving the plant.

Nah man. Sorry. A 12 watt cfl at 2 inches away would have put that way further along than it is. The light is probably an issue but there is more to it and il bet its the soil. Looks like yard soil with mulch thrown on top.

If it was just the light it would have stretched further looking for the light.

Attempting to lead someone down a path you dont actually know leads to more mistakes for everyone.

I'm no expert but also growing a Dwarf strain, I really got the feeling if you create a good environment for them they'll focus on putting down a good root network then they go a bit nuts

It‘s flower soil, it actually has good drainage ngl, it’s mostly been a mix with the lights. I used the 10w led for sprouting the plant, then at day 8 I started using the 6500k cfl.

high content of organic matter and mineral salts. rich in calcium, magnesium and essential trace elements.
neutral pH

water-soluble potassium 52-85 ppm
soluble phosphorus 32-55 ppm

When I grow autos I transplant from solo cups. With that said if I was going with seed directly into the container it will remain in I would use a seed starter mix on the top 20% of the pot then the nutrients rich soil below.

Growing a seedling in soil that is loaded with nutrients can and most time will hurt the growth of the seedling. They don't need much and too much stunts them.

You had said it has good drainage. What is in the soil that gives it that quality?

I don’t think the soil is being an issue here, I rather think it might be a ph problem, since the second branches are a bit yellow

So I've read that I can plant a seed into a sponge? Could that be an alternative Instead of using seedling starter mix?

Plant as in plant and germ then take out and put into soil? Sponge as in bath sponge?

As a first time grower, there are much more experienced minds on this thread, but I would say keep it simple for your first one.

Regular potting soil with a lot of perlite added. And I used a jiffy pellet to eradicate the room for error (breaking taproots ect.) I just try and think "What would mother nature do"
