Is a humidity dome necessary in an air cloner?

I was cloning in a DIY cloner done with a tupperware and an air pump, hose, and stone with water and after 2 weeks I got roots, however, humidity was high, probably due to the extra holes through which some water splashed out from the popped bubbles. The thing is, the clones developed heavy mold just when they started rooting, this was also possible due to the fact that these clones had early flowers when I cut them.

In other words, I want to find out how to fix this design. I'm already trying to clone in a simple glass of water and see how it goes, but so far, I know that if it weren't for the mold, my DIY cloner would have been a success, so I ask you:

1. Was the dome necessary?
2. I guess I should have blocked the remaining holes from where water was splashing out
3. Would you advice using hydroguard or H2O2 on the water?
4. Clones in flowering probably not the best idea.

Here's how I done my bubbler it's absolutely water/light tight, if you want any of the details just ask.

I always spray my clones with Southern Ag Bio Fungicide, which is just concentrated Hydroguard, and I never have any fungus issues, but I don't use one of these either, I just use root riot cubes in one of those little dome thingies. I water with it too. Temperature seems to be one of the most important factors in easy cloning, but once you get it down, you will get a 100% success rate.

Thanks. I have Southern Ag as well, so I will use it, but I never had success cloning in root riot, I mean, I live in tropical weather for Christ sake.

Not with a bubbler.

yes

Not needed if using tap water. Clonex seems to help.

I've cloned up to 3 weeks in flower, rooting takes longer.

Man, how you did it?
I already had a 4 port air pump and a couple of 1.5" round air stones, so I needed...
1 small corex lid
10 mesh pots and neoprene pucks, the mesh pots were only something convenient to hold the pucks and give it a neat finish so the actual mesh I've cut off.
And a paint scuttle.

The Stanley bubble cloner lol.

A couple of hours of cutting holes and covering the lid with plastic and it was ready to go.

I've since changed to 2x 12" stones and put a couple of velcro tabs to hold the lid in place, every time I nudged it the lid moved it soon got annoying.
