i guess, but.... lumens are a measurement of how much light energy a light source emits. this measurement is based around the wavelengths of the human eye, and NOT the PAR wavelengths... great for measuring light used in flashlights, but not LED grow lights. :O

i wont bring it up again, though. lol

all good man I get it nothing wrong with bring technical, I was just trying to get op to realize he was blasting his plants with 2-3x the light they needed atm. I totallly understand there is a lot more to calculating a fixtures output than taking lux readings. just didn't want to overwhelm him with details when he is still learning the ropes.

Hey reggae. Can u share the formula u used to see how much lux or watt per sq foot so I can use it if need be

And also to u think it Wud Ben more efficient to have 1 of my lights going at 100 % or 2 at 50 % like is now Efficient be the word of the day here. Lol. Thanks again
 
I've done the math from umols to lux. It really can't be converted but it's close.

13,500lux at soil level for seed.

4-5 modes 16k-17k

Lux at 12" above the soil 24k. Veg. 18/6.

Flower.

35k to 60k+.

I don’t know what all that means Iam a newbie. What’s the K ? 1000? And what’s Modes ? SOrry for all rookie questions But I may order the dr meter lux meter

@Beehive answered it already. that is a good guideline to follow. but like he said you just gotta take time and learn some of this only comes from trial and error. different strains respond differently too. dont stress it tho. just use his numbers as a baseline.

and K just means thousand.

so 20,000 and 20K lux mean the same thing.

not to be confused with color temp K. such as 3000K, 4000K etc. that stands for Kelvin which is a temperature measurement which results in different light wavelengths.

but for our purposes here, K means thousand.

Seedlings/clones
13,500 lux at soil level

Veg - by week 2 (@ 6" or 4-5 nodes tall)
16-17,000 lux

Veg - @ week 4 (@12" or 8-10 nodes tall)
24,000 lux

Flower
35,000 to 60,000 lux
start at 35k increase a little every few days until week 3 of flower when stretch has finished at which point u can be at max.

all of this rough guidelines. listen to the plants to determine actual numbers

Thanks reggae Your awesome Is this the lux meter I shud grab Orange or black. One cheaper But one also has detach. But if u have one of these I prefer to know by experience and u have helped me out so much so far Much appreciated

the orange one is newer i think but I went for the black one anyway to save a few $ and bc I didn't think I needed a detachable head.
