After falling into the trap of reading the trolling, I had a thought.

Since we need to 'New Deal' level response to everything going on right now. And instead of thinking small with the pipeline. Use those train tracks to tear them all up and dig the pipeline under a whole new rail system.

And that entire infrastructure going into those rails can also contain rural piped water/electricity/whatever I don't even know enough about to include in a underground grid that could get laid at the same time.

They could also redo the crumbling roads/highways with it as we go have a way to plug in new pathways over time (no reason to dig up new roads now, but in 50years there will be something for them to plug new lines into).

But for now they could do the 1st rail/pipe system and not have to go through ripping apart new land.

Im sure it would be expensive as hell, but if this is that profitable, it would be worth getting a estimate.

Let's keep in mind the reason we are trying to cut back on oil consumption is the release of carbon. The Ag sector (mainly meat production) creates more CO2 than the Transportation sector. So there are things we can do. Eating less meat would be a big step in the right direction.

there's a reason why canada doesn't want to pipe and refine it. i know why: your gov't has said so publicly.

Actually your large refineries 'wants' it. The refineries in the Gulf are a big investment that is designed to take our grade of oil. Another option is to get it from Venezuela but there is a political cost to do that. Also Canadians return about 85% of the cash made by selling you the oil where oil sourced from Venezuela the ME only return about 12-15% (I gave a link to the figures, won't look it up again because you don't care). Canada would love to refine it and sell it out in the open market but building a new refinery is a multi-billion dollar investment that makes a 10 billion pipe look cheap. The last refinery built in the US was in the 70's, we won't see any more built before we ween ourselves off of oil.

You seem to miss the point. The US oil giants built up the Alberta oilsands to feed themselves. Canada gets to tax the oil, we don't own it, private companies do. the Chinese are trying to buy it for themselves, we only allowed them about a 15% stake. The US is making money by taking our oil and upgrading it and selling it to the Chinese.
