Hoping someone could point me in the right way. May seem simple but could someone tell me what soil or compost to get and what feed would be best. I haven't started planting but want to have things in place before I start. Any help is appreciated.

Depends on your location and what you can get

I like promix BX as a medium. Some like the Promix HP. Some like to use a peat base, and mix their own.

Look into Coots Living Soil for organic.

Sorry I should of said I live in the UK.
House and garden bat special . Great for just starting out OR coco. The H&G is ready to go . Just add water , nutes and ph buffers included, the ec is a little hot to start with. Think it's 1.6-1.8 , but I have had no problems with it from seed , coco , you add nutes after couple days from sprout

There are lots of people from the UK that can point you in the right direction. I'm in the US so the availability of products is much different.

I will say that you should start simple. Get the best soil you can or I hesitate to say go with coco which can be somewhat more difficult for a beginner. A simple 2 - 3 part nutrient and skip any additives.

I can't recommend soil or nutrients as I'm in the US and have found that much of what we can get here is not available in your country. So when people start saying use this or that try that you may not find those products available to you. Hopefully you'll get some UK people to help you out with what's available.

Good luck.

Do you have nutrients already picked out, or was the soil your first stop?

If you haven't already purchased bottled nutrients, then you should look into organics which will determine where you begin looking into soils. Some people mix their own, some purchase pre-made living soils to begin and then just continue on with organics from there.

If you've already purchased bottled nutrients or anything inorganic, then it really doesn't matter what your soil is so long as you dont purchase one with time released nutrient pellets.

You need to figure out HOW your going to grow, and it will be easier to make a suggestion. If you wanted to go organic (so much more fun imo and what id suggest), then you can buy all the inputs you need, mix your own soil, and have killer plants. And the best part is you recycle everything, and the more you do the better everything gets.

But again, it depends on what u want to do. Bottled nutrients can be super easy with a proper feeding schedule and good quality nutrients. Organics can be very fun and rewarding. Choose a grow method that works for you, and then I'll try my best to help u out with a soil suggestion

We know the english love their gardens, so you must have good soil mixes. First grow won't be perfect no matter how much you prepare, so I'd say go and get a good organic soil mix at a nursery and try to make sure it doesn't have slow release nutrients added b/c all mj growers hate slow release. If asked you can say it's for hothouse tomatoes. Get some perlite to add to it even if it has perlite already. Get some organic dry ferts with mycho's like Dr. Earth to top dress later if needed, probably something for flower and something for veggies. Also get seed starter which has no nutrients for starting the seedlings. Then just give it a try.

I'm in the uk and that bat special is probs best for beginners . All ya have to do is add water for first 3-4 weeks while in veg then re pot into new and again not feed for couple to a few more weeks depending how hungry the plants are . . For nutes when needed just keep it simple . A good a&b 2 part that should see you through
