I personally own a Volcano, Herbalaire and Vapor Brothers Box. Vaporizing is awesome. The weed tastes MUCH better and the smell is cleaner and doesn't have the toxins or harshness of regular smoke. If you have non smokers in the house they will definitely appreciate your vaporizer. Vaporizers still release that wonderful odor of ganja without any smoke.
That being said I still have a pretty elaborate glass collection consisting of bongs, bubblers, chillums and pipes. I also still love to smoke joints. I only know of one person who insists on ONLY using his vaporizer. Most people I know use vaporizers to supplement, if you will, their pot smoking. As much as vaporizers rock, it's still more convenient to just load a bowl and burn it down. And, I have lot's of old dead head hippie friends who prefer the ritual of twisting one up. So then there's that too...
Not all vaporizers are created equal. Stay away from the cheap vapirs, bcvaporizers and anything else made of plastic or economically priced. Vaporizers are expensive. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on one, dont get one because it will suck and you wont be happy with it. I highly recommend the Volcano vaporizer for obvious reasons. Everyone knows the Volcano is the pinaccle. But the bag system Volcano kind of takes a lot of bud, and a lot of effort compared to regular smoking and direct hit vaporizers. That's why I have traditional smoking pieces, as well as, a vapor brothers vapor box for direct hit vaping. All bases are covered this way.
When vaporizing, if the taste isn't clean and fresh, then you have the heat turned too high or you are using a cheap, junky vaporizer. If you aren't getting as high, or HIGHER, then you probably have the heat too low. You should actually taste the oils rather than the smoke but it should still "choke" you a little bit at the end of your toke. Some vaporizers require you to grind the herb, others actually function better if you roll the herb up into small, pea sized balls before loading. Also, play around with the temps if your vaporizer has adjustable settings.
Well, that's about all I can think to say right now about vaporizers. If anyone has any specific questions let me know. I have quite a bit of experience with them and have tried just about every popular vaporizer on the market.
