So i use the hydrococo pictured below, can i easily overwater this type of medium? I tested a little something. One of my plants would always stay wet/damp and never lighten up but i kept watering it everyday nonetheless, at this point i was just taking my chances if i will overwater it or not. It turns out that plant yielded way more than the rest of the plants. Is it just luck or it doesnt really matter as long as there’s 20-30% runoff?

You CAN overwater coco. This last run of mine I almost fucked over because some rookie on here was boasting feeds 3x a day in coco and really pushed this “hydro coco” thing. My plants were almost compromised.

you can feed 3x daily assuming low ppm and its properly drained to waste, you cannot however do this with small veg/ seedlings. oh coco, I couldn't resist her, love the smell for some reason

because a higher ppm would cause buildup and the lower ppm at a higher rate of feeds allows for balance , as the plant drinks more increase ppm. I'm not suggesting drowning a small plant , it has to be drinking healthily

There's a tech to it, make sure they are basically root bound or have a really good root system in place, then feed away as much as you want. I pull 4 zips per plant in 1gallon fabric pots. Don't give up on it try it this way even just on one plant in a corner or something, any questions I'll try help.
But overwatering is definitely possible in coco if your plants root system isn't big enough for the pot. Get em root bound and you can feed all day if you want

the best way to feed small amounts while getting Good moisture levels is to find a tip that sprays the coco instead of the regular single out put hose, you want to spread the moisture as evenly as possible, alot of automated feeding buckets come with nozzles that evenly coat the top layer, I'm currently trying to ghetto rig my own rings so I can feed maybe 1,/4 to 1/2 gallon , just enough to soak the coco and causing a small bit of run off, with low ppms this prevents salt burns

My sentiments exactly.
approx 7 weeks in using 0.7EC every other day feeding.
I haven’t been above 1.1EC this grow either feeding every other day.
I could feed these once a day but I prefer the day off in between.
EC0.7 pH6. 11L pots for the big ones (approx 3G) and 5L for the small clones (
Coco stays moist and the balance of the coco is perfect at the moment.
@bernie344 you’re plants look like they are exhibiting salt toxicity.
Probably compounded by the small pot size, less wiggle room for your coco cation exchange to happen.
See how your leaves are changing weird colours and getting crispy. That’s a classic example of toxic salt build up.
The reason you’re feeding 3x a day etc is because your roots are burning through the moisture in the coco too quickly but EC is too high and thus the coco compensated by holding onto Ca and delivering back K to the point that it’s toxic.

I don’t use ppm I use EC. 1.0EC is the same as 500 at .5 or 700 at .7. Also equal to 10CF.
