the only other 70 year old I know that grows cannabis humbly admits he can never grow a thing like in my garden.

the simplest fact is this.

coco can be used in a multitude of ways.

i don’t feed multiple times a day. I don’t feed everyday.

I feed mine once every other day.

if Someone chooses to use a smaller pot and feed multiple times per day (because otherwise the pot would be dry AF) then who is anyone to say they are doing it wrong.

you can feed coco multiple times a day, you can feed coco once a day, you can feed coco once every few days it’s all semantics.

Everyone uses it differently but if you allow coco to dry out too much it can fuck about with the CEC of the coco and can sometimes cause a toxic salt build up.

To sum it up find what works for you.

if that’s a small pot with lower EC multiple feedings or whether it’s a larger pot with less frequent higher EC feedings then so be it.

But to flat out say it cannot be done one way or the other is just wrong.

Yes you can overwater in coco. If you have a small plant it doesn't need to be watered multiple times a day. I cringe when I see someone with a 6 inch plant in 3 - 5 gallons of coco and people telling them to water until runoff multiple times a day. It makes no sense.

And furthermore, you do not have to water until runoff but you need to keep the coco wet and not allow it to dry out. There are many using coco and blumats with exceptional trouble free grows. For those that don't understand what blumats are and how they work they're a gravity fed drip system that uses ceramic sensors that open and close a valve based on capillary action. The moisture level in the coco determines if they are open or closed. As the moisture level in the coco goes down they open. When the moisture level goes back up they close. There is no runoff. I've been using them for years without any issue. The key is proper feeding. Many overfeed which is one of the biggest causes of issues people have.

Right....so if there's "a tech to it" why do so many ppl say you can't overwater coco when you absolutely can overwater coco? that's just a bad thing to be telling newbies to coco - i can't tell you how many ppl overwater and wonder whats wrong - it's easily by far the most common mistake

Typical story Forum Nerds telling people you can over water in coco though they dont use it and have never or done it themselves.
Then we have the leaf lovers, they haven't yet realized we throw the leaves away and smoke the bud.
Lastly its the coco growers who think if you grow a seedling in a 5 gallon pot and water it times a day to run off will hurt the plant,
though they also have never done it.

The only positive thing I can take from this thread is that it has brought you all together here so its made it easier for me to put you all on
ignore in one swoop.

So i use the hydrococo pictured below, can i easily overwater this type of medium? I tested a little something. One of my plants would always stay wet/damp and never lighten up but i kept watering it everyday nonetheless, at this point i was just taking my chances if i will overwater it or not. It turns out that plant yielded way more than the rest of the plants. Is it just luck or it doesnt really matter as long as there’s 20-30% runoff?

I've never used that product, but there appears to be a ton of hydroton in it, so I imagine it would be tough to over water. It looks like it's more suitable for a automated DTW or recirculating system to me.....
