I’m running 10 gallon fabric pots With pro mix HD my question is are my pots a little big for me to get a 20% run off like recommended using floranova nutrients I would have to pretty saturate them And I’m thinking I would probably only end up watering once a week at that rate. Anyone know if I’d have better luck running smaller pots and more plants

Fabric pots are terrible concerning runoff
No sense in trying
Better to watch for mold from staying too wet

I think it will depend on how long your going to veg how big the plants will be when flowering and how much they will be eating, room temps with those fabric pots humidity, they actually evap a lot u will be surprised some guys have to water twice a day , but yes in the beginning still keep an eye on them they won't be drinking a lot

I use 10 gallon outdoors. I water very slowly until runoff. However it takes alot as there will be loss through the sides. I suggest once the sides are throughly wet with runoff, water near the stem to gain true runoff.

No way id water those plants until 20% runoff in that medium. How much have you been watering/frequency/amount? At the size they are Id not give more than a 1/2-3/4 gallon water. 2-2.5 gallons would need to be a huge flowering plant. Under 600w LED. 1000w HID.

Generally I grow trees, in 20g Promix BX 1000w HID. In a 20g container, I NEVER give more than 4g, and they use it in 3.5 days at 78f - 84f. Fans blowing 24/7 even on 12/12. I veg 24/7 x 1000w HID

How much Nitrogen are you giving??? Mg deficiency usually happens all over the plant. N deficiency starts at the bottom, and goes up. Generally.

Also if you are using the 7-4-10, I feel it is lacking in Phosphorus, and K. Weed generally likes a 1-1-2 ratio,... 7-7-14 would be better. Weed is really similar to Tomatoes. Weed just likes a bit more N, and K Not much.
I use a 19.5 - 20 - 39 ratio, and adjust PPM. I feed at every watering. I never hardly water to runoff.

I use a cheap Lowes ect Moisture Meter, and have for 45 years. I poke holes in the lower sides of containers, as well as take readings from the top of the container. I NEVER let the moisture level get below the LOW MOIST LINE, and dont let them stay wet for longer than 3.5 days.

7/4/10 floranova grow I gave them a half gallon then the next day I gave them another gallon about 560 ppm and I just recently found that I’m supposed to add cal/mag first before mixing nutrients not sure how that would effect the plants

1 gal per foot in heigth ,fabric pots require more frequent watering too

I'm growing in 10 gal fabric pots and don't get hardly any runoff if any at all, I feed them every watering, water every two to three days, 1 gallon per pot now that they are bigger and flowering. I've had no problems at all this grow, rootgrass growing for weeks now.

As I heard 1 gallon container for 1 week veg or 5 gallon for 5 week veg as a rule of thumb,I use 5 gallon but my limited grow height limits my plants to about 4'.The only way IMO that you would need bigger than 5 gal is vegging 5+weeks or outdoors,I have heard some say 1 gallon for every foot in height you are going for.Good luck, pic is 4 durban p and 4 sour d,in 5 gallon airpots

20210213_101720.jpg use 5 gallon fabric pots and they dry out much faster than solid pots, every other day I must or wilting starts,I also add perlite to 30% and always add the dolomite to soil prior to planting.

To much water, and improper mixing of the chemicals.

Id get a cheap Moisture/Light/PH meter from Lowes/Walmart. Also learn to gauge by picking the container up, and learning to judge if its light, or heavy by feel. I do both. I check to see if light by hand first, and then with the meter. Meter takes all guessing out of the equation.
NEVER EVER let them get to the point of wilting. On the Meter, Never Let the Needle get To Low Moist Line. Always a hair above.
If plants get to dry and wilt, that means the dissolved solids in the container have concentrated, and risk burning the plant when rehydrated. Add in a feeding at that time, and he have a double muck up.

My general rule of thumb for Medium Amount/Container Size vs how much water is 20% is the max I would water.
1 gallon of soil gets a max of 25.6oz of water. 5 gallons container gets one gallon.
20 gallon container gets 4 gallons.

These are also MAXIMUM amounts for plants that would have a rootball pushing the limits of the container, and under strong light.

I use promix hp, I found the bx needs more pearlìte. Vermiculite is hard to get in Canada or id be using that too as its a good supply of silica and weed needs silica. Organic or not.
