Thoughts on 30%rh

Hello everyone
My question to all is I’m drying my last round of blue dream I got hang drying in a dark room in my house with a small fan just circulating the air and rh is 30 and temp 67-70 degrees Fahrenheit Some parts of my harvest that I pulled early dried in about 5 days!! Not ok in my opinion. Would a humidifier work to slow this process down or would that just run me into problems. Thanks in advance to everyone and happy growing

It will work but please beware, they can get bud rot or pm if humidity gets away from you. If humidifier has setting you should be ok. If not well thats a different story. Keep an eye on hygrometer. Should be OK, I cant get my dry up to more then 5 days, I'd like that to be 10. Humidifier is only way I know. Ps, nice girls

Thanks! I live in so cal so I’m kinda fighting the dry air and I hate this situation and drying time It really changes things. I also would like to get a 10 day but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen

Some people will hang a wet towel to try to increase rh on the cheap and easy.

I think the only way to do it is to buck off of main stem before it’s to dry it snaps. Jar our bag as normal. Not really the same smoke i fear but we will see. Gonna keep a close eye on it

Jar it. Burp as normal until humidity is in the 45-50% range and leave open longer. Takes a bit of time. But nature will balance it out. And little chance of mold from over dry below 60% relative extending burpings. Or use boveda. I believe it inhibits flavor. But save your buds.

Hang the plant fully whole, don't trim any of the fan leaves. A large bowl of water with a clean rag in the water, hanging off the rim of the bowl, will give u a few % higher RH. Hanging the plant whole like that will ensure better moisture retention as it dissipates, buds won't dry so fast.

Totally agree about the boveda bags! I have come to find that a 1 12 inch flour tortilla in a bag per pound works great! If it gets to dry one can always put in a Turkey bag and spray distilled water on the outside of the Turkey bag. Then placing your Turkey bags in a contractors plastic bag roll it up and put in a warm room over night. The units will wick moisture through the bag. But the room has got to be warm and it’s got to be distilled other wise it’s useless. Works for the pros! Just all depends on how many units and how dry!

Of course burping and checking humidity after 24 hours. It’s better than some people just straight spraying pounds with Terps and water like I’ve seen some do

The day after I decided to chop our local rh dropped to the teens.
Inside the house was low 20's

The outside of my buds were Crispy after 2 days hanging.

I ended up "reverse burping" to slow it down:
All buds were stacked LOOSELY 1/2 full (not 3/4) in mason jars and sealed for 8 hours inside a roomy cardboard box. (bedbowl to wake&bake)
- buds were WET again in the morning. (room rh appx 20%)

Removed all jars from box, opened all lids and hand checked a few buds from each jar - help damp / dry air exchange.
Made sure they're not too damp and have no inappropriate smells / feels like ammonia or squishy spots
- even though I wanted to slow the process, I REALLY want to avoid mold / rot / etc.

Left the lids off inside the box till my bedtime bowl, then sealed the jars again for the night (unless they still felt WET - then left open).

- repeated these steps until they felt like they were ready to start jar curing as normal.

This seemed to help slow down the process fairly well, but they still started faster than I'd like.
Right now they're getting better constantly & I only "burp" jars when choosing a new one to open for consumption. :weed:

Hope that helps.

I went to my local hardware store to support them all looking for Mason jar’s! And a lot of them! Struck out but found some on Amazon of course! Am I the only one who hates that! Found some 1 gallon jars! At that rate I only need about 10@15$ each!

Glass is nice but to stash 10 gallons of weed, I would rather look for food grade 3 gallon buckets with the gasket in lid. Get them for free from my ice cream shoppe.

My buddy and his dad grow the same strain back home and one dries his hanging and his dad dries it shoe box tops then into an paper bag. The dads weed is always so dense because if this method. Not bad at all!

That's because of the weight of the wet buds on themselves in the shoebox tops.
