Regular Chinese people or the Chinese Govt., I'll agree that the Chinese Govt. are ABSOLUTE liars, I mean they take state security and propaganda to a whole new level, their handling of WHO investigation and use of China's Covid response to tout their Authoritarian ways is a case in point. But actual chinese people not connected to communist party, I don't see it. It’s an interesting show, even more when comparing Border Security Peru to Border Security Australia. While the former deals mostly with drug smugglers, the latter is mostly about asian tourists and returning asian ozzies trying to bring in all sorts of exotic - and explicitly forbidden - food and lying their asses off even while and after getting caught. The main difference is at least the drug smugglers eventually reach a point where they’re like ok you got me. Being liars isn’t exclusively CCP or chinese govt, it’s a sociocultural thing. If you “don’t see it”, you haven’t been looking very well cause it’s a rather known aspect of chinese “culture and civilization“. The embarrassment that comes with admitting to lying is considered far worse than lying and lying about the lying. The difference with their government is that the people usually do it to avoid confrontations and other undesirable situations rather than creating them.
Anyway, harassing asian immigrants because they’re asian is stupid and unproductive and won’t stop the endless breeding of new flu strains, child slavery, encampment of millions, gang rapes, technology and intellectual property theft and other more pressing issues in Asia itself. On the contrary, it makes it harder to address them.

Martial arts is very popular here but UFC not so much. It’s the beating while on the ground that puts us off. Rico Verhoeven is our main man nowadays. And as all dutch martial artists he wants to be like van Damme / Norris / Seagal and become an actor in american movies. He‘s got a role in Kickboxer: Retaliation, crappy movie but good for him.
It‘s as much an accusation as saying canadians love maple syrup. It’s a well documented defining trait.
